I have given up on Mercedes and exchanged my 2005 c class 230 a/g sport with lots of extras for a BMW. it was all down to poor service from local dealer.
The last straw was when I had an indicator showing a fault with the air bag. I contacted the dealer to be told "service are not answering their 'phone, I will get them to ring you. No response. I then contacted Mobilo service and was immediately given a respinse and within an hour the car was collected and a hire car provided. On collecting my car from the local dealer, I wa stold "it is in the car park". It was not and when I went back to service reception they got from the workshop. It was dirty with its of wire in the footwell and the mats over the pedals. I was fed up and drove away, only to find the clock and date were out of sync. They obviosly had no checks on the quality of their work.
My local BMW dealer has always dealt with me personally and made an effort to provide an excellent service.
I now have a 335 convertible, to go with my wife's 120.

Seems to be the order of the day, BMW are doing well due to poor dealer service. I havent had the experience yet but frankly following some of the stories on here I am dreading it!!

Mind if we ask which dealer?

Forgive me but I went to see a 53 plate BMW M3 SMG Convertable yesterday instead of having the CLK and the C class.

Fully loaded with DVD, TV, 6 CD changer, Heated memory Seats, auto dim RVM, folding mirrors etc.

28k with the hard top in Estoril Blue.

I actually had bad dreams about it last night so woke up this morning and swore never to look at a BMW again!

I've called the Mercedes Dealer in Sheffield twice over the past week and still haven't had my call returned.

Very annoying.

Good luck on your purchase David and I hope for your sake that BMWservice is better than Mercedes.

Regards,

KJ

p.s. the M3 is gorgeous.

Its for sale at http://www.winchestercars.co.uk in Sheffield

My problems were with Mercedes Chichester

I went from Merc to BMW and havent looked back !

Excellent product, backed up with an outstanding customer service both dealer and BMW UK

And before owning the BMW i was so anti BMW - Thanks to Merc I will never look back!

I have always said and will always say that in my opinion the customer service at a local dealer will make or break the relationship.

Good luck with the BMW and I hope everything works out for you.

Regards
John

Good luck with the BM, they're great cars let down as usual by greedy dealers.
I have had a long range of BM's before I tried Merc's and to be honest, there's not much between them, but BM's are much more reliable

Interestingly I am thinking of going the other way! I have long been a BMW owner and currently have a series 3 convertible and a new MINI Cabrio. My target car is the SL350. I was very disappointed that BMW are only able to offer a 6 Series convertible as a ragtop and not with a metal retractable hood.

I'd write to Mercedes HQ in Milton Keynes with your experience. Your frustration will be noted by them. I credited MB for their service by a very good dealer. MB UK wrote back with thanks, sent a nice pen set and passed on their thanks to the dealer too.

Kick up a stink and enjoy the letter which will await you!

If it was all down to poor service, then you would have swapped the C230 for a 320 or a 325 saloon. ;)

I know that MB dealers give themselves a poor rep, but let's be totally honest here...
