Good independant specialist required in North London

My brother in-law has a E240 estate which he has been told has BOTH catalytic converters in need of replacement. He's been quoted between 1,900 and 3,000 to have them replaced! Does anyone have any experience of these being replaced and what the likely cost is? However the most important question is where can he get them done cheaply and reliably in North/central London?
