Good looking cars

Convertible is pure glamour, the Shadow is one of the most overrated RR ever for me.Give me a unloved Spirit or Seraph over it anyday.

Wish i had copyright on that story .If i received a penny for everytime i heard that i would have become a billionaire :o

Didn't say I wrote it , was just telling the ( possible urban legend ) story.

It's a good story.

Speaking of Jaguars.....

Really?

I'd have a Spirit but I don't think it is a pretty car - nor the Seraph.

Each to their own!

I was stating Spirit /Seraph purely in context of Shadow -none though are pretty , just that Corniche is better looking then them

I didn't say you did write it :).Good story ? -well yes , many years ago when it was first told. But when you hear it for the squillionth time it can get a..... tad annoying :DHowever, i fear that old tale will run long into the next millennium and beyond......

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but my vote goes to any car made by Duesenberg.

Like this one at the Haynes collection, Mr Jay?

I rather liked the Auburn roadster there too

The only conclusion to be drawn from this thread surely is beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
While many of the cars depicted are indeed "classics" and could even merit the status of "works of art" at least in appearance ---many of them were terrible to drive, unreliable, dangerous even, and badly manufactured. There are not many "classics" around that are even tolerable to drive by todays standards. The true classics to my mind were cars that looked good ,were ahead of their time, had innovative engineering and making allowances for their age still retain that rare ability to make driving them a pleasurable experience even now . I reckon that would easily eliminate 70 to 80 % of the cars listed so far. :dk:

Many a loose-tongued gangster ended up in the boots of these ...

My Uncle had one, don't think he was a gangster though. Mind you I was only about six when he drove me, so who knows :D

That thought crossed my mind - looked like something similar to that which was parked up with loads of others in The Krays film from 1990.

Your first sentence is/was the point of this thread, what some people think are good looking, others don't and vice versa. If it was a beautiful car thread, there'd only be Italian, British and the odd French car thrown in.

I also started the thread because I knew there'd be some stunning cars I've never seen before (and I was proven right)

Beauty is more than skin deep....
Hence a car built to break records car with a race pedigree engine (Eleven) has a beauty beyond one with a molested van engine (Starion).

1979 Maserati Quattroporte Mk3
IMHO the only valid alternative to one of the most beautiful S Classes ever built, the W126.
