Good looking cars

For SPX whose non-AMG recognition skills are as yet undeveloped, a Mercedes W114 coupe, a pair of Citroen SMs, A Citroen DS, an Aston Martin DB4, a Mercedes 190 2.5 16, two of the same Iso Grifo (sadly the super owner is selling it for £275,000 - just the thing for the Yorkshire man about Doncaster) and a Bristol 405 drop head.

I do like the Iso Grifo - just looked right and sounded right from my memory. They were a bit cheaper when I looked at them last time !! ;)

I know that horse has probably bolted but could folk please post which car it is they've posted?

I can then go off and torment myself on Car and Classic/Autotrader/eBay....

Mine are Lotus Eleven (or XI if you prefer to be Roman about it), Eagle F1, a Delage single seater and presumably another Delage (as I found it on the Delage page) name unknown, but posted as you (the OP) asked for cars not seen before and posted a pic of a Maserati I'd never laid eyes on previously - returning a favour so to speak.

There really aren't that many good looking cars in current production but two that are distinctive (though not good looking enough to warrant posting pics) come from the same stable, Citroen - the C4 Cactus and DS3. Both add a freshness to the roads. Another modern day one though it took me a long time to 'get it' is the Jaguar XJ, particularly the rear. Pics don't do it justice but their is a bronze coloured one that regularly passes my door and looks fantastic as it departs.

Great thread Lee. Great to see a thread with this subject title not merely splattered with pics of Pagodas - which we all know are as pretty as any car can ever be. The fourth distinctive modern day car is more than distinctive though - the F-Type. But you comprehensively beat me to the draw.

Just a little bit! That one has a large block Chevy 7 litre V8 and I met the owner at a car show (hence my photos). Lovely guy, Kiwi, sang in the chorus of the Royal Opera House and who had looked after the car with considerable care. He did say he found the fuel consumption frightening, but boy did it sound flat out gorgeous!

In his case I hope he gets a great price for it.

Oh, sorry - mine was a Russo-Baltique
Actually saw it at Geneva show - not something I would ever buy, even if I had a spare million quid, but nice to look at ...

Fiat Barchetta (mine)

Alfa Romeo Stradale 33 (sadly not mine)

Cheers,

Gaz

And wasn't the P6 I between? Appearing in about 1963 I remember.
The P6 was very modern In comparison with the P5B I seem to recall.

A car I aspire to own, I just love them! I'm not fussed about the newer 911's but the late 80s and 90s cars for me are so special.

I personally love the 996 with full gt3 factory aero kit, but not the facelift 996 as it's a tad bland for me.

Cls w219 is a great looking car too. A turning point for modern mercedes in my opinion

However if we're talking modern 911's I'm a fan of this get up....

The P6 came in around 63/64 as you say. A very modern car for the time. But the P5 was still made until well into the seventies - I certainly remember fitting a radio (Radiomobile 1085 iirc) into a brand new one in 1973.

Agreed - there isn't a crappy looking Jag in that selection. Deane did manage to point of two of the worst ever cockups Jaguar ever made though...

Loving the first one with titanium exhaust. I only really like those type examples of the 911 (including 996 GT2 etc.). Otherwise they bore the t!ts off me!

One of them doesn't count as it was a Mondeo in drag ;)
