I will take that as a no....lol..........has anyone with a good knowledge of how a W211 E55 sounds, heard a W211 E63 .... and if so how do they compare? I would think there is almost no difference until the changeover to the W212.

Big difference in sound type but not level.
E55 is a 5.4 litre Supercharged engine.
E63 is a 6.2 litre normally aspirated engine.
New 212 E63 is a 5.5 litreTwin Turbo engine.
All V8's
If ya just want to have a little 'Private Time' with a box of tissues over the sound of one being cained then I suggest you look on You tube, loads of Oiks on there thrashin' their 'meat' for your entertainment!

The E55 W211 must have been one of if not the most subdued exhausts they ever made, some owners in the US even fit the E63, C63 or even CLS55 boxes to there E55's to give a raspy sound.
I am very pleased with the sound of mine although it is still quieter than most of the modified 55K cars around.
wouldn't the E55 and CLS55 have the same exhaust system?
What have you had done to your exhaust system?

I keeped the centre box but lots of people remove those, mine is very quiet below 2000 rpm and only start to hear things at 2800 rpm and above on light throttle which is at about 80 mph.
On mid to high throttle there is a V8 burble at around 2200 rpm and above past 3k it's starts to roar.
The nicest sounding exhaust for sound bites that I have heard on an E55 is either BrabusSL or Lopes80 but not sure I would want to live with it for a long journey.
The loudest is Brabusk8 and there was another car at VMax earlier this year who I think is a member but not sure of the name. Both of these sounded like thunder.

The CLS rear boxes sound really nice on an E55, I think they stick out a little further as well.

i have the e63 amg, had the resonator removed and replaced it after a week, it was to loud. I have heard removing the secondary cats makes a good sound, but want to keep mine legal now.
I'm happty with the sound mine makes and it keeps the misses happy too
