Has anyone in Sussex got a W211 E63?

I'm very keen to make my E55 sound a bit more like it should. It sounds fantastic when the revs pick up but it's a real shame not to make the most of the V8 rumble lower down the rev range.

I'm a newcomer to Mercs though so I need to find out about all this X/Y-pipe business before I decide what to do.

I've had catbacks and decats on previous cars but I want to keep it simpler with the E. I'm not bothered about more power, I'd just like a bit more noise.

It depends what type of noise, if you want the muscle car burble then tubular headers. If you want the raspy sound then you could fit some rear Eisenmann boxes or get someone to modify the original ones by changing the sound deadening. Or just do both

I don't want it to sound like an American muscle car. I don't like that sound at all.

My B6 S4 (4.2 V8) had a Milltek catback and that sounded great. My E39 M5 (5.0 V8) had a silencer delete and that also sounded great.

Here's a clip of the M5 starting up:

That's the kind of sound I'm after: Teutonic rumble rather than American gargle. :)

Kleemann Headers and Eisenmann not sure if anything else done

I wonder what it would sound like with just the Eisenmann. I don't really want to change the headers. This mod will just be for sound rather than power gains.

CLS55 always sounds louder than an E55 so I assume they have different exhaust systems. 63's sound much louder and "bassier"
