According to original MB sales spec I have for the 129 series, both the 600 and the 60 allegedly have heated seats as standard. Can't find a switch on mine? Any ideas folks?

I don't know if it's of any help, but I don't think all SL60s had heated seats, didn't Nick G's old car miss this feature?

Funny really (no help but a comment) my Mondeo is the special edition Titanium X before it became a proper model. Anyway, when launched it had the ST body and ST seats but with half leather/half alcantara rather than full leather. So, I thought - I wonder if it has heated seats?

I checked wiring for the switch (the switch is missing but has a cubby hole in its place) and yes the wiring & switch is fixed to the back of the cubby hole! All the fuses and relays are in place. And under the seats the wiring loom shows the heated seats wiring.

So, I go buy a switch and have heated seats? No. I don't have the heated pads fitted.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Yes, but my point is on the sales spec it says quite clearly that they are standard....

On the door cards by the electric seat operating switches?

Yep, and that is how I read it - but as your car seems not to have them, and so did Nick G's (AFAIK), maybe the spec is wrong ;)

Have you checked from the VIN decoder if the car came with heated seats from the factory?

Is it an import car? Heated seats aren't usually standard everywhere, or perhaps the standard options have changed over time and the car is not from the same time as the brochure? Unlikely for a high end model like this one though.

Mystery deepens...no mention of heated seats.......the sales spec stuff relates to the year, it was one of the last made, a '98 model.

I want heated seats :(

OK here are some answers

As of Nov 1994 the heated seats were an extra on all but the 600 and that had them as standard they cost £350 inc VAT.

By 07 1998 they were standard along with most other things that were extra before this date.

You can see the switches in the center of the three each side of the gear shift

That seems to clear it up, so although mine is a 98 model, it's build date was 11/97, so it would have been an extra. Oh well, bang goes my missive to Mr MBUK, where's the heating for me seats guv?!

I've got heated seats in my car, love em...when they work :( Just had heated seat squab #8 fitted

They are easyish to add, there are cut outs on the underside on the wooden panel for them, ang get all of the bits from a breaker

Not really cost effective mind you.

Heated seats (code 873) were always a cost option on SL60s. Spec sheets and brochures aren't always to be trusted -
We reserve the right to make changes to design and specifications
appears on most.

To be honest I don't really want them, I had them on the SLK and rarely used them, I have them in the M class and never use them, I was just intrigued as the spec said they were standard.....

Are you sure it doesn't say electrically operated seats with memory and heated mirrors?

The 10--1994 list shows electric seats as standard, and memory for both seats are an extra for each one at £485.

Dimming mirrors are not in this lst, but the memory for them and the steering wheel is at £278
