hi guys , bought an e500 w211 about 8-9 months ago from an independent merc specialist in Nuneaton , Mercland . It was advertised with the Bose audio system which to me was a real bonus. As I understand it this was an amplifier all hidden away in the left hand side of the boot . I have recently been looking at having a parrot Bluetooth kit fitted and to make sure of the cables I need I had a look in the boot to find the amplifier. I pulled back the carpet covering on the left hand side of my boot and to my dismay no amplifier! now I have either been had by the sales man or its in another location. does anyone know where abouts it maybe and what I'm looking for? from images off eBay its a small black/grey box about 10inches long by 5 inches wide. also should there be any Bose badges on any of the speakers ? your help would be massively welcome

It is there, the amplifier is part of the audio gateway, without it, none of the audio would work at all.

Speak to Mercedes Comand Navigation and Audio Specialists if you need clarity.

They are tucked right up between the inner and outer quarter panel... Pain in the backside to get to.

Wiring a parrot up to it will be a nightmare.. I have done it and it took forever and needed half of the car dismantling...

This kit is easier

cheers jay - sorry to go off on one on the phone - got me in a real tizzy. I am really pleased with the motor - never missed a beat - but getting a phone connected is nothing but hassle. I've got a bloke over in Hinckley would will fit a parrot and any lead needed for £280 - that's worst case scenario - £220 at best price so this kit seems by far the best option - its got the SD card slot in as well

Parrots are great, we have fitted a few, but wiring them up in these is a pain...

I wouldnt do it again!

hence getting it fitted! Dream Ice I think they're call - on the Harrowbrooke industrial estate Hinckley - let them sweat over it! registered parrot fitters apparently - got certificates and every fink!

Let us know if any good!

will do mate - its the mki9200 - color screen with sd slot on the back and a separate remote for calls and music - retail at £140 on its own so I think all in with cables it not a bad price fitted if its as hard as you say it is

Well its not hard... just that all of the seats, carpets etc have to be taken up on the passenger side to route the massive adaptor cable needed... its time consuming to do properly.

Jay runs a first class outfit and wouldn't try to screw you. He checks the datacards and if the car has it, he'll know.

The car actually has Harman Kardon which was the successor to Bose. The amp is built in to the AGW. Fitting a Parrot is a real pain in the whatsit. The fiscon pro is far easier to install and integrates with the Audio-50/Comand just like factory plus it gives you contact info in the cluster with steering wheel integration. Plus there is no extra add-on screen.

At £280 for the parrot installed, I suspect they are unaware of whats involved in actually getting to AGW. Make sure they properly interrupt all the speaker channels so the sound in the car cuts completely during a call. I suspect you may find the sound comes just from the front speakers and the rears still play the audio. Let us know how you get on.

Hold the press!!
just ordered a something that I didn't know existed ! instead or of the hassle of long looms, cables and interfaces , I have just ordered a 'Bluetooth cassette'. its a re-chargeable Bluetooth receiver with a 6 hour battery life that just pops in the tape deck. how simple is that! I understand the quality of the audio will be slightly impaired coming via the tape deck but how much easier is this solution, and at £40 delivered its a hell of a lot cheaper aswell. it automatically connects and activates when you insert it / switch to tape on the head unit so would still be quite easy to answer incoming calls when driving. whilst I was looking I also found a cassette mp3 player with a separate remote for song navigation which at £10 I thought was worth a punt. should be here in a couple of weeks as coming from Shenzhen or something like that , so I'll let you know on the results

Hi Pete

Can you post a link I might get one.

Regards

Sam
