Hello guys,
really need yr help especially those who had the same experience. i can't open the door using the remote/key fob (one-button). don't know what the problem is. alarm is blinking. just afraid to open manually using the key. this is my first time to own a mercedes car. and i just have one key. no spare. still waiting for the new one but a friend said can't use it until it's been syncronised.
does anyone know what happen if i open manually using the key (flip key)? will the alam buzz and active the immob.?

car details:
mercedes e230 (W210)
P reg (late 1996).
Auto.

Thanks in advance for yr help.

i can only suggest that you replace the batteries in the key fob first and try that, if this doesnt work open the car place the flip ignition key in the ignition and turn clockwise 1 click then disconnect and re-connect the car battery. this may be of help but i cant make any promises! hope you get sorted :)

Hi Richard,
Thanks for yr reply. Just changed the remote battery but still won't work. It happened last week but at that time, the alarm and immob. didn't blink. so, when the AA came, he just opened the car manually and sorted. no alarm buzzing.
Now, it happens again but this time the alarm indicator is blinking. that's why i'm like 50-50 either to open it manually or not. if i open it manually, i'm pretty sure that the alarm will be buzzing and that might activate the immob. unless if the alarm can be deactivated by turning on the ignition (provided there is a delay after the alarm buzz).

Dont know if it's the same on yours but on my ML, if i unlock the door manually with the key while the alarm is set (due to previously locking the car with the fob) the alarm will sound but will be turned off when i place my key in the ignition.

does the red and green led's on the interior mirror and the door handle (drivers) assuming you have this setup both flash at the same time?

alarm siren should be able to be disarmed if its anything like mine, open bonnet and check for siren with keyhole on top use small key to arm/disarm.

well, that is another problem. i don't have the small key to disarm the immob. tried to request from merc. dealer but they said they didn't do it. is it possible to get it?

only got the LED at the interior mirror, not at the door handle. at the moment, the red led at the interior mirror is flashing. so i assume that the alarm in ON. when i press the key fob, there is no response at all.

You maybe need to syncronise your key with the alarm. Should tell you how to do this in your owners manual. OR try the following worked for me.
Stand at passenger door with remote flip key with new batteries.
1 point remote to sensor on mirror press remote for 5secs.
2 unlock door with key (you got to know which way to turn the lock, anticlockwise to unlock I think) DONT OPEN THE DOOR
3 WAIT 10 secs
4 press remote for 5 secs.
5 lock door with key(clockwise)
6 wait

after 30 secs try the remote again should be synchronised ???

when you say press the key , do you mean lock button or unlock button?

Not quite sure which key you have but mine did the same.
I replaced the batteries but no difference.
I then noticed that the connections in the key fob were a bit loose so I stuffed a bit of folded baking foil in there to make sure the contact was good and now everything is OK.

Earlier model of key

Sorry this post referred to an earlier type of remote with only one button. I dont know if this syncronisation applies to the later 2 button keys. there are posts about the later models of keys on the forum so try searching a bit more. good luck,
