Help with wheels for CLK 230K W208

That was the plan, dont want the 4x4 look! Having said that yours still looks good but needs the drop on 18's and looks spot on with the 17's.

Ok i just put an offer in on these for £250 and it was accepted, hope there ok when i go to collect them! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....ndexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting

Would i need new bolts or anything?

The lad selling these wheels has got back to me and they are not genuine, i put a best offer in that was accepted but i dont want replica wheels as i know the quality tends to be rubbish. I think the ad was misleading as if there not genuine surely it should be advertised as such. Haivng said that i should have checked first but if i had advertised them then i would have pointed this out. The search continues lol!

Replicas aren't as bad as people make them out to be, but those ones u showed look obvious because the spokes at the end dont bend in like the genuine ones.

Also, 18's will be fine on your car, and the comfort will also be fine. Got it on my C-class with stiffer springs and they are fine. (check my gallery in my sig)

You most probably need new bolts, but u can get these are your local tyre garage or something for £1 per bolt or so.

I wont be getting these ones now but still looking for some, thanks for the reply.

Im looking at a set of genuine amg wheels 7.5 x 17 ET 35 and 8.5 x 17 ET 30. Will i need new bolts for these to fit correctly or will the original ones be ok? If so do you know what size i will need? Many thanks!

New bolts to be safe, take it to a local tyre fitting garage and they'll fit them for you.

Cant agree on these wheels now lol. Seems like all the guys on ebay expect a lot of money for wheels with illegal tyres! Ideally i need new tyres as my rears are due for changing and i thought this would be the opportune moment to get a new set of wheels... There are some others that im looking at so watch this space or if you have a set of 17 or 18 wheels let me know!

Thanks for the reply but i dont like these wheels. Thanks anyway ;)

Ollie stick to the 18's I have the staggered set up on my CLK and the ride quality is fine no different to 17's See mine HERE and HERE

Mine is also lowered by 30mm so fills the arches nicely. If you are still struggling for wheels there are plenty available around here (Yorkshire) genuine and replica. Adam is right about the replica's there are some good ones (unbranded) and made by the manufacturers of genuine ones, just watch out for the weight as increased weight will affect your suspension set up and ride.

We run 18's on our blue 430 and they are ok . We also have a set of 19's for it , and they are NOT ok !

Amazing how the extra inch makes the difference between a firm but comfortable ride , and a proper miserable ride.

I always work on the basis that the biggest wheels that they put on a CLK from the factory were 17's .... there must be a reason for this ;).

not quite, my CLK320 (w208) was fitted with 18 rims from new

Not from the factory it shouldn't have been . Maybe a dealer put them on after the others were damaged .

There was no option to spec 18's on a w208 CLK , thats why the 55 AMG's came with 17's , MB put a lot of money in R and D .

Well, I am only assuming this, the original shipping details
659 light alloy wheels -5-holes (avantgarde design) (с 01.10.1994)
and thats what were on there when I bought it, of course they could have swapped the smaller rims for a set of 18's

They aren't 18's , just standard Avantgarde alloys.

Got a picture of your wheels close up ?

I dont have any pics now, as one of the rims had a previous repair weld split open so I bought a new set. but the tyres were all moved to the new rims, Front 225/18/40 and rear 255/18/35.

Have they got AMG engraved on any of the spokes ?

Nope, as you can see from the above pic they were plain.

Seems strange that they would have been supplied with a stock 17inch, and then upgraded after purchase to a set of the same rims in 18's.

Were the original rims 17".? Standard Avantgarde rims are 16".

Bear in mind most people change their wheels for looks/styling purposes only.

They aren't genuine AMG's , so what has happened is the original Avantgarde ones have been taken off and a set of replicas put on.

Avantgarde wheels don't look like that either , AMG's do , the data sheet would have said AMG Alloy wheels if it was fitted with them from the factory.

DM , the wheels i have for sale in the Classifieds are 17's and were supplied from new on my car ( Avantgarde spec ) ... , i have seen 16 inch versions of them though.
