Hidden or not very well documented "features" on your Mercedes ?

I only found out this weekend that if you press to unlock and hold the unlock on the key it opens all the windows and rolls them up doing the same with lock and hold.
That is called ‘comfort locking’ and has been a feature since at least the days of the W124 : hold the key in the ‘unlock’ position for three seconds and all windows plus sunroof will open ( very handy if you return to the car on a scorching hot day , and you want to ventilate the car before getting in ) , and likewise, closes everything if you hold key in lock position on exiting.

Every car I've had since the 1970's has done this?

As did I.... it's old timers like us that know this. But younger people who get into a car that is connected to the Internet and has a computer system for a dashboard, simply do not expect this function to be governed by an old-fashioned rheostat... and to be honest I think it is sightly anachronistic myself and out of character with the rest of the dashboard. No wonder that the younger drivers can't find it.

LED intelligent light system.

Some foggy days the lights will not auto switch on, pushing in the rear fog light switch turns all the lights on, does this in auto and manual mode on mine.

Are you saying they’ve done away with the superb multi functional light switch which has been a feature for 70+ years , with all lights controlled from a single switch?

Further diluting of the brand , and a step towards the mediocrity of other brands if they have .

This is a big issue which I’m surprised hasn’t been addressed with auto lights.

Explains why people drive about in the fog with no lights on.

On my 2017 C Class, pressing the lock button twice on the fob disables the keyless entry system (indicators will flash 4 times to confirm deactivation).
I do this before going to bed so if ever a car thief tries to use a relay to boost the fob signal from inside the house and fool the car into thinking it's nearby, it won't work.
The car will only unlock using the fob and thereafter the keyless system is reactivated and functions like normal.

4. Auto-select of Park when turning off the engine or opening the driver’s door
I assume it only works in cars where gear lever doesn't change its position, like newer models? My Audi does it, but not SLK. You can't remove the key until it's in Park.

The need to put the car in park before you could remove the key completely foxed me in a VW recently! Couldn’t work out why the key wouldn’t come out of the ignition.

Yes, the auto-select of Park is only on models with non-sliding shifters such as the column shifter. I was in two minds about the column shifter on my E-class but now I love it and miss it when driving other cars. E.g. the ease of flicking the car into reverse without letting go of the wheel when parking. In other cars I keep turning on the wipers by mistake when trying to engage reverse...

On a c class w205, when you insert the key in the dash, the multi function display of the car flashes its headlights. Don't know why, and taken me a year to notice it. quite cute really!

In the tip about the boot floor, your blue intro screen says "boot/truck", not "boot/trunk".

My 212 does this but it's got the column change (which always goes back to the same position).

I like fact that I no longer have to put it into P before I take the key out.
