How fast is a e55k lol

I take it that it pushes you into the seat? lol:D

In my younger days, we described it as leaving your balls in the boot!!

A 53 plate E55 estate came up in the ebay section recently, and I reckoned the asking price was probably twice what my 04 E500 estate is worth. I may have to wait for a 63, price wise, before I try the AMG experience!

The high drag coefficient of the CLS has always surprised me. I'd love an aerodynamicist to point out which pieces of the CLS contribute to this.

Low drag road cars have always been one of the areas where MB have excelled. The W210 with a 0.29 cd was ahead of it's time and then the W220 with 0.27 was remarkable for such a vehicle.

The new W212 coupe at 0.24 is a achievement, but it has been bettered by the CLA at 0.22 and matched by the W222 S class, W205 C class and Tesla S at 0.24 also.

Just for kicks and comparison's sake.
The G wagon has a cd of 0.54 and the 190e cosworth is 0.32

Its an experience for sure and it is brutally quick. The acceleration feels relentless which makes it hard to consider my next car. As the 5.5TT is out of my price range and I wouldn't want the expense of charging a na 6.2.

On a recent trip to the continent, on the unrestricted autobahn, it is very quick!

Only managed around 165mph (due to traffic), but the way it gets there is amazing, especially pulling out of service stations :D

Crushing, relentless acceleration. Or for the layman

F-F-F-Firkin' 'ell Missus.

It's quick. Very quick. Until you drive one, you won't realise just how immature you still are... I have the estate, and I really can't think of another estate that offers anything like the same bang for buck.

'Scuse ignorance, what's "a e55k lol"?

If it's the name of a Mercedes with a small "e", does that mean it's a small version of the E-Class? And I've seen lots of appendages to car titles (such as CDi, XL, GTi, SE) but never spotted one with an added "lol". For a moment I did think it may have been one of those ridiculous abbreviations that so many people use, but I couldn't see how Laugh Out Loud or Lots Of Love had anything to to with the rest of the subject line. :dk:

But if you have the chance to ride a 1000cc+ super bike, your perception of speed and acceleration changes somewhat.

^ This

My E63 is quick; superbikes are truly fast :thumb:

That said, at very high speeds the sheer power and relative aerodynamic efficiency of the car means that things are a lot closer than many would think.

Wow thanks for definitions, and explanations damm i gotta get one lol

Agree, I remember being stuck behind a much slower CLS:D

I am surprised the W211 has better aero than the W219.

If you do get a E55k... Put a LSD into it, helps the rear end (got one in mine).

When I started looking for an E55, I expected it to be fast after owning a chipped Sapphire Cosworth a few years ago. That was pretty rapid.

But I wasn't prepared for the way the E55 accelerates the first test drive I took:eek:. I was hooked ,although the first few I viewed were not great examples. Be aware, if you do start looking and get to the stage of getting a test drive, you will crave one until you finally own one.
I cannot think of such an inexpensive family car that gives almost supercar performance as standard. And after owning mine for over a year, it never fails to put a smile on my face getting into the driving seat.

Btw yes the 211 55 does has 6pot brakes at front & 4pot at the rear, even my SLK55 has that, not sure why.

E55k has 8 pot fronts.

They are quick for a big comfortable lump, but as said it depends on your scale.
My dad summed it up best when I took him out for a spin "well, that was.... surprising".

E55k has 8 pot fronts.

Thanks for that info. I was convinced they were 8 piston callipers as I did mine a few years ago, but I couldn't quite remember cause I'm old and tired. I do remember the 8 pads per side though. :)

From memory, Ricky's E55 does close to 190, it's a bit tweaked.

When I first got mine, which (then) might have been remapped, and had both limiters removed, somebody said that a STANDARD E55K without the limiters would just about creep up to 190. I'm off to do some Googling....

Wow the thing scares the #### out of me upto 70mph, let alone 190

but I couldn't quite remember cause I'm old and tired, though I do currently have c700bhp to help me stay awake :D

Fixed that for you :thumb:.

There' s one at 320 kph/200 mph, but you can't tell if it's stock or not.

Google "E55 vs E63" on youtube, posted by somebody called 'raceman' under the DFW banner. Genuine? Doctored? The E63 wins out eventually, but it takes a while...
