How much should I pay for a 'mod' airbag with chrome star?

OMG at the first ones' original price! Is that for real?!

Do you mean the list price.? The sale price is competative..

Yes £477 ?!?!?! Could buy a car for that! Are they really normally that pricey? I never knew.

I think the one on ebay is used and nick's one is new....... which one would you go for?

Well the difference is only a matter of £30 (+ p+p) so perhaps new one but I presume the 2nd hand one would be fine?

Which ever you go for make sure you end up with the right shade of black.

There's 9051 and 9B51, if you get a bag that's the wrong shade, it will look odd against the wheel and the dash.

Can this be added to the old steering wheel then? i didnt even know that :D. Gives the steering wheel a nice 'updated' look.

And also, how to find out what shade mine is if i wanted it for example? go to the parts dealer and try to order one for my chassis?

How would one know if a second hand one is a working one??

if the bag is intact and shows no damage etc and the airbag light goes off when plugged in and everything appears normal then there is no reason to suspect its any worse or better than the one you currently have fitted.

But can you tell before you buy? Or is it just take a risk so to speak....

i've used several 2nd hand airbags over time and never had a problem. dont know if they would actually go off in an accident but how do you ever know...? all you can do is know the SRS light goes on and off at ignition

if it looks undamaged i think thats the only way to tell.

Don't airbags have an 'expiry date'? Seem to remember they're supposed to be replaced after 7? years.

Alot of money for a bit of chrome!

How about getting a sliver marker pen ;)

Spend the money getting the Wald kit fitted instead!

True but how many of us with older cars actually have done this?
Hardly anyone I guess. My 12 year old R129 is still dealer-serviced and they've never mentioned it.
