But surely you can't run the front unit from a reverse supply, as you want them to work when you're going forward slowly.......................

From what I read you put a relay on the reverse signal so the front sensors/kit are engaged when reverse is DE-selected.But surely you can't run the front unit from a reverse supply, as you want them to work when you're going forward slowly.......................
Is it possible to fit front ones too...and run them off the same display? Or is that too ambitious??

No the relay I saw engages the front sensors etc for 30 seconds then turns off. That ought to be enough and much less messing around needed.I suppose you could do that but they would be live all the time I guess.
What would be ideal would be if you could tap into the CANBUS signal that operates the automatic door locking so they were only live at low speeds. Any electronic experts out there.................?
R2e,
I have what looks like a very similar headunit for the monitor part of the head unit and two sensors that I was going to fit to my ML (in the blanks that the spare wheel holder would go) Only went for two as the back it pretty much the back but so I can get it very close in garage etc.
Anyway kit has control box with a red and a black wire. Black is earth and the red goes to the reversing light.
The sensors then plug into the control box using little muti connectors and the display also plugs in.
My question
I am a little confused only have two wire (a black for earth and red for reversing sensor) is it the reversing lights currently that power it all.
Also whats the relay and where do I put that, will I have a bulb out warning if I don't?
Thanks in advance
The front sensors on my BMW are activated when reverse is selected
