I am addicted, it`s a problem.

Cayman GTs is superb - at going fast . As you say .
But as someone else said earlier , its just not the same .
It would defo be on my short list though as oppsed to say ... An A45 ..

Yeah but for me it's about the experience of owning the car too. I expect to be treated with respect and not lied to it makes me lose confidence in the brand. I'm not giving my hard earned cash to a brand that can't manage their dealership network.

I have to say I don't think MB are that great from a sales point of view.

Hence buying mine independently.

I do agree with the above (certainly certain dealers are poor) but bet a lot of us already or often have a pretty good idea as to what we want before we go into the show room hence a lot of it comes down to price meaning bringing shopping around into play.

Personally I have a great dealer and they have a brilliant after sales service where nothing is to big of an ask. They've sorted everything out swiftly and to me that's re-sells a brand and make people want to return both in terms of brand but obviously also dealer.

For me Stuart , its about being able to get a high spec car , under warranty , for a lot less cash . I would never have bought a new 507 ....

Steve same here. I used to be all for a new car and no doubt the special feeling of walking into a brand new car is very hard to beat but that feeling goes pretty quickly I've realized once you have saved 30%+ compared to a new car and you still have the car under warranty.

On the warranty part I 've looked into what the cost is for extending the warranty on the C63 an was 2 months ago quoted £1,200 which is not bad in my view.

Is that an official MB Warranty ? Who quoted you that ?

Yes official for a car with sub 60k miles and a excess of approx £250 per claim.

Do we think it is worth extending the warrant in a c63? Fingers crossed they seem very reliable and £1200 is a fair chunk.

It really depends I would guess but personally as I've had mine for 2 months I'm likely to extend mine for comfort and then I will take a view later.

Good point RJ 63. We already know the engine and box are bullet proof. Wear and tear is what it is. So , which expensive parts are we trying to warrant here ? I would imagine any other `warrantied` faults could be corrected for a lot less than £1200.00 ? Especially if the car is say less than 5 years old with sub 60k miles.....There is an argument that if you come to sell it you get more for it with a warranty.....but that's after spending your £1200.00 in the first place.....

I certainly wouldn't warranty a facelift. Only benefit to a pre facelift is the head bolts. Then I've been told its a £1k job to do at MSL so whats the point in paying £1200 for a warranty?

I agree to a large extend but nothing is bullet proof but again a question about likelihood. My view is this the car is 3 years old and I have two years free service and 12 months warranty. I will drive it for the next 10 months and take a view but I do consider doing it also as it makes it so much easier just to ask them to take the car in as soon as there is the smallest concern or issue without having to worry about a potential big bill or even paying labor hours for just looking at it.

But there are specialist out there, with same diagnostics who`s labour rates are half that of the dealers.....

Absolutely don't argue with that and also proves considerations for extending warranty are very different.

Absoluteley. Also, the Independent dealer I bought mine from, has offered me cheaper servicing, using same diagnostics and OEM parts. Also an extended warranty for around £600.00..........

Duncan seems to like his 205 C63.

How many are there on this forum anyway, can't be more than two yet, there are more confirmed GTs than 205 C63s.

I have only ever seen one other 205 C63 on the road in 6 months - weird but also exclusive and I agree - I have seen more GTs! (about 5). Actually, overall I dont really 'love' the 205 - yes, 1st world problems having a 510bhp daily driver to commute in which is frankly a lovely place to be - light years ahead of the 204 but you know what, I just dont 'love it' - it is not special enough for me, not like my old 507 which was special - obviously the 204 engine is a bit better but the new one is still fantastic (and more powerful) but my 507 was the coupe with the bonnet vents it looked real special and turned a lot of heads - my 205 - I do check, hardly anyone looks :) its because its too Q car.

So much that I have an offer from my supplying dealer to buy it back (after I asked them) - I'm going to think about it for a day or two as the deal is enough that after 6 months I could just walk away (man maths alert)

The GT is now under £100k. ;)

I think is worth every penny !

What he said, except I never saw another C63S!

I came direct to the 205 so do not have any comparison.

One thing that was different for me was mine definitely was noticed. Satin paint, Edition 1 - it looks stunning. But I did not love it and sold mine as I decided to take the money out and I had a health scare at the time which focussed my mind.

Fantastic place to be, made me feel great but I was always worried when I left it anywhere as I was worried what I would come back to.
