Hello everyone....:)

Excuse my english ...but I am Italian...so :o

I just got a C220 CDI SW year 2003, with a Comand 2.0 DX (A 203 XXXX).

I am trying to understand the config of my car.... and I have a few questions (very easy for you...I am sure)... Please help me

1 - How do I see if my car has MOST or D2B ?????
2 - How do I see if my Comand is the CANBUS version or not ????
3 - How do I see if the Comand has an external Amplifier connected or it has ONLY the Comand-internal Amp ????
4 - Is it possible to install an external amp if there is NONE right now ??

I know it might be boring to help me with these easy questions....but this is my very first Mercedes and even if I have a decent "classic" HI-FI Knowledge, I am totally lost with this car, because it is not "classic" at all...:o

I would appreciate any help on this....

Thanks a lot in advance, Riccardo (italy)

Hello Recardo, and welcome.

I think Im correct in assuming your Comand is indeed a canbus model (buttons on the sterring wheel?), and will be the D2B type. Im not sure how to tell if you have an external amp, but Im sure someone will be along soon with any help there.

If you havent got an amp and want one, get the type to fit after your Comand in the speaker line. My CLK had this when I bought it, and it seems to work OK.

hello martyn,

first of all thanks for your help.

Your're right... I have buttons on the sterring wheel.

So your idea is to use any common external amp (I have already an old great linear power) connected directly with the speakers original wires connecteded directly to the amp line in ?

Did I understand right or wrong ?

I think the signal would be too strong for the amp line in....

don't you think ?

What do you mean by "...fit after your comand in the speaker line" ?

Do I need any sort of adapter in the middle ?

Thanks a lot for your help anyway.... I also want to thank any "gentle soul" who will help me to understand my config

Sincerely Riccardo

Hi,

Your car has D2B connections so you could fit a BOSE amp into it if not already there.

Your comand has CANUS as all W203's are Canbus.

Hope this helps,

Alfie,
thanks for your info....

I have listened to the so spoken BOSE system....but let me tell you that...it is not worth it at all.

It is damn expensive and you can get much better results with less money..

I know that it's gonna be more difficult.... but....

I have a very OLD Linear Power.... that I want to install...

This is what I mostly want to understand....if it is possible and how to install it.

Any help is very appreciated....
