Insurance- cautionary tale about mods/roadworthyness

Dieselman- the nasty thing is he tells the insurance company who inform the poor car owner that the insurance is null and void. The company point to the small print in the policy which states undeclared modifications will render insurance null and void. Many brokers here in N. Ireland have a notice displayed which tells potential customers this.

After reading this thread its worring the fact that there must be thousands of cars out there that have got nothing but subtle mods ie pedals, wheels, air filters, brake pads, different colour (K) bulbs that the average joe blogs fit to their cars,If they inform the insurance all well and good but what happens when its sold on?Most people cant tell the difference in subtle mods, even more so if its OEM replacements(pedals and wheels). When I bought my car it had alloys fitted with wider tyres. As far as I was concerned they were standard for this car! It wasn't until joining this forum that I found out that they weren't standard.Others must be in similar predicaments??
