Insurance is a JOKE

Last year £398, got a renewal quote of £786. Eventually, through a comparison site, I settled on Admiral at £347.
Bit of a result!
Blimey, that’s the best result I have heard in a long time!

While my multi policy (2 cars and the house) premium has just about doubled, the JZR (specialist kit car ins) has actually gone down! OK, only by less than a quid, but still gone down. Discuss.

Can I ask who's your specialist kit car insurer?

We just got our renewal quote for house and car from Admiral (£1300)

Did the meerkat thing and went RAC for the car and AVIVA for the house for around £700

Hello All. Got my 2011 S63 AMG in January of this year and insured with Direct Line. Received a nice email from them saying they won't be offering me insurance again so have to start again. Zero claims etc. so a bit strange. Any recommendations as to whom to try next? Adrian Flux? All and any guidance appreciated. Thanks!

You will have 1 year's NCB atleast Adrian flux can be exspensive on that kind of vehicle i was with them for all my car's until i hit a certain age now all are with SAGA

Adrian Flux were a joke - £3,800. Yep, not incorrect. Unbelievable. Getting around the £900 mark with both Aviva and Saga. 50% increase but better than a 600% increase! ;)

I'm with LV on a modified SL, have you tried them?

I have been with LV for many years now, but always shop around come renewal time....which happens to be early next month.
LV have always spot on when dealing with claims, not that I have had any motoring ones for a couple of decades! But when we had a a house flood and a burglary they were great. When I needed roadside recovery in a borrowed XJ220 earlier this year it took just one brief phone call to sort.
This time the Macan quote has risen 30% from last year, but the little i3 40%! I have already got an instant 5% reduction which seems to be worth making the phone call to get, which brings the average rise down to the low 30's % which is still (if reports are to be believed) lower that the national average.
I can get insurance on the i3 at almost half the cost as LV, but without all the benefits and service I enjoy with LV.
My current thinking is to bin the protected no claims discount and save another £100 which will bring my total for both cars to about £750.
I'll make another call next week, which will be the alleged optimum 20 days prior to renewal to negotiate the best price.

Thanks Mactech. Tried LV and they have actually come out the best, a shade under £900 with everything included bar breakdown cover. Better than Aviva and Saga and anything via Compare The Market. Would it be worth ringing LV up and asking if there's any wiggle room on the internet price? Any chance of a discount in your experience or not in this situation? Ta.

I have always had the angle when I get my renewal quote that "I'm a longstanding customer and have seen it cheaper elsewhere" and I have always got 5 to 10% off.
What have you to lose by making the phone call? There may just be a new customer discount they can access, but the worst that can happen is they say no!

A couple of years a friend tried that.....during the conversation the agent realised that his wife (named driver) had dented her company car and made a claim.....so the quote went UP £75! Lol.

I'm paying a paltry £247 with General Accident for my 2015 SLK 250, fully comp for me and the missus (you never know) with a £100 compulsory excess. 👍

If we are into risk and reward, maybe that is better than having an accident and finding your insurance null and void for failing to declare all the facts? :dk:

My renewal is 370, lv want 754.
The very reason we all shop around (I hope!) as none of us each have the same car, location, situation or driving experience. Choice is a good thing, until it becomes too complex.

Just had my buildings and contents insurance renewal - Saga want to increase it from £555 to £966!😳😳😳
