One of my neighbours mentioned yesterday that renewal on her little Suzuki car ( forgot the model) is over £525, up from £269 last year . I just checked my old Boxster , which isn’t up for renewal yet , but in august was £169. Expecting to be shocked , I was pleasantly surprised when compare the market came up with best price of £140 , fully comp . Admittedly reduced miles from 3000 to 2000 , but there were 16 quotes below £200. Now the Boxster is 25 years old and not exactly high value , but capable of over 140mph and a bit nippier than the average econobox. This was a ‘’regular’’ quote, not a Classic policy. In all honesty I don’t know why I still keep the car , the wife complains that it’s not comfortable to get in /out of and I only use it in fine weather , which rarely coincides with the days I plan to go somewhere! We just had an m.o.t. On her Smart for 2 , and has covered less than 500 miles in a year. Now that I have retired, my B class has done 4000 miles in a year so I should really consider getting rid of three and just buying one car . But that would be too sensible for me!
