Insurance renewals turning up at the same time :(

C350 quote gone up from £344 last year to £435 this year. Full no claims bonus. Compare The Meerkat told me that £435 was the lowest I could get - so I renewed at the quoted rate.

House insurance last year £376. This year's quote £799!!! That's just over double, despite never having g made a claim
This is all far more complicated to compare prices than for the car. One of the main difficulties is that my wife runs her hairdressing business from home and has to have liability cover. (On the plus side, the massive insurance increase means less income tax to pay to HMRC!)

Our house insurance went down this year by a few quid.....we expected an increase, not only because of insurance generally going up, but because we upped the content cover.....! We don't have anything of real value in the house....no high end jewellery etc....but having looked at the cost of mundane stuff like furniture and white good we felt we needed to increase cover.

Having got up from the floor after getting my house & contents renewal quote of £799, I tried various comparison sites for alternative quotes. None were clear about cover when running a business from home. Then I thought I'd give my existing car insurers (LV=) a try. Not only do they make it clear that full cover is still provided when running a business from home, their quote was for £313. One of the easiest decisions I've ever had to make.

I'm struggling to think of anything 19p or less I could buy. Even a 10p mix up is more than 19p nowadays.

Got my renewal today, insurance company's are now officially taking the Piss. £805 up from last year's £600 for my 2011 C207 E class coupe Cdi. They are now just literally charging what they want, knowing they've got you by the Balls. And this is the calm version of the post I really wanted to post. 🤬🤬🤬

Sorry to hear that’s recent posts sounded like that the insurance premium prices had cooled down a little.

I fully expected to be bent over with my renewal from what other Beemer owners were saying. There seems to be no real logic in insurance premiums ( but was there ever?).
I guess you'll be trawling the WWW for quotes now? I recommend trying the Moneysavingexpert quote finder.
Let us know how you get on.🤞

Relax slim and try alternative sites for quotes, let us know how you get on.

AA insurance last year £660 renewal price £960, i went on compare sites they come up with £710, i phoned the AA and exactly the same insurance ( i did drop 1000 mile off ) £690, so its worth ringing you old insurance back.

I'm insured with RAC, last years quote was £664.42, as I have now retired and am not commuting, doing less than 10,000 miles, not claiming Business Cover the quote for this year is £848.80 FFS! :wallbash:

Compare the Market comes back with more reasonable quotes, but many insist on a Telematic Black Box being Installed!:rolleyes:

Just got our house insurance quote - up by 80%🫣

Phoned them up, been with them 17 years and ooh, they could knock £99 off, but that’s still a 67% increase (house and contents) for only a 3.8% uplift in cover

Vented my anger on X (the former Twitter as the BBC insist every time they quote) to receive an email back inviting me to call them. And I know how that will turn out

Been at this address for 23 years, prior to us moving in the previous owners had claimed for subsidence. After a clerical error (we forgot to renew, didn’t realise for a year or two we had done so), we tried other companies 17 years ago, none of whom would touch us, even with a new surveyor’s report showing no change. So looks like we’re stuck with a shower who make **** Turpin look generous unless views on 25+ year old subsidence have changed. Going to be a busy week….
