Bluetooth works fine for voice calls etc. I'm using the IPhone 6 but when I try to use it with Comand it says phone does not support mobile data.?

My service provider has confirmed Tethering is enabled. Apple confirm the phone is ok.

I have latest maps & latest firmware for Comand.

Any ideas how to connect ? Personal Hotspot & Mobile Data are all turned on.

Car is a 2011 W212 E Class

Thanks all

To use the Command Online features you needs phone that supports DUN protocol.. It's now rarely used so the iPhone doesn't support it. Your not really missing much as most of the Mercedes online apps aren't that great.

Thanks for the info, it;s a no go then

You could buy another phone that supports DUN, but unless you're desperate for a weather report on the Command of the ability to set destinations remotely via Google it's not worth it.

I just wanted to send locations to the car via Google maps, as I did with my 2011 X5. No problem though, it isn't a dea lbreaker & I'm not changing phones.
I'm pleased you clarified this as Mercedes Customer Service didn't know

Yup, Mercedes customer service will get confused. The latest version of Comand Online (internally called NTG4.7 as oppose to the 4.5 you have) does support the newer protocol that Apple iPhone uses (PAN) - this was introduced in MY2013 in some cars.

My wife's car has NTG4.7 in it but i still havent used the online function !

Cheers

Hi i have the same issue with my Mercedes C class W205. My phone is an iPhone 6 on O2. My data plan has tethering and the hotspot is switched on, but no joy it will not connect to the internet. I have re-set the phone, removed the sim still nothing. Then Mercedes tried it with a Sony Z and it worked fine, then with a iPhone 5 all on vodaphone and they worked fine. O2 say the sim is fine and Apple say the phone is fine, so just stuck!! Anyone experienced this?

C Class 2014

I'm having the same trouble with my new C Class and am going to the garage this afternoon to get it tethered to my new iPhone 6 on O2 with 4G. I don't see why they can't use the car's link to the internet; I had a BMW before the new Merc and it worked fine there.Thank you for the point on NTG4.7 I'm taking the print out of the thread this afternoon.

Hi all, Merry Xmas.

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 5S on O2 4G and my new W222 SClass with Comand Online.
Must be some kind of problem on SIM-Carrier rather than a car NTG.

I have old BB 8900 Curve and tethering works fine, but on GPRS is dead slow ;)

I thought iPhones should now be fine with NTG5. I've used an old Symbian phone with GPRS (3G) dial-up as well as a new Lumia 830 with BT PAN and both have been fine.

I have a late 2011 E350 with (what I believe to be) NTG4.5 Comand Online. I also have an iPhone 6+... is there a software upgrade (NTG4.7 or iOS app) or any other solution to get Online working without changing my handset?

Thanks
Phil

Don't think there is. My last one was a 2011 car and I didn't find a way of doing it. Just not compatible with an iPhone for the online functions. Solved on later cars as above.

I can't see the option on Google maps to send anything to any cars anymore so COMAND ONLINE has even less to offer these days. Should have just left it simple and allowed you just to mirror the phones screen.

If you think Google discontinued the option to send destination info to the car, how can you assume that they would not screw up the option to mirror the phone screen to COMAND?

Anyway, google maps still have that option but they just made it very difficult to use, even difficult to find the option. You'll probably find it by searching a location and then selecting "what's here".

If you still want to mirror the phone screen to your COMAND, can't you do it via the AUX video input, at least my old phones were able to do that.

I see send to car on google maps. I use it for the Merc and the BMW.

I had the same problem tethering my iPhone 6 Plus on O2 with my new W205. After a few days at Mercedes and a software update it still would not tether. The dealer called me some days later to ask if I was on O2 as MB Germany had told them that there were issues, I tried a Vodafone SIM and all works perfectly now, it tethers every time with no issue. When I switch back to an O2 SIM it fails, so I guess it is some problem with O2's network.

Iphone6 tethering

hi First time on
I also am finding it impossible to connect my O2 iPhone 6 to my Mercedes C class command online I wish someone would come out and give a definite answer to this problem so we can all move on if another carrier will work then we can all ditch O2 and sign with an alternative carrier I personally am getting fed up talking to O2 and Mercedes and getting nowhere.

I read somewhere that there is a software update to allow O2 tethering but cannot remember where it was, only that it was recent.

What is it that you are expecting from Mercedes or this forum? The manual is clear on what is required from your phone (Bluetooth DUN, PAN or a USB modem capable device). Normally an iPhone would support PAN, so perhaps an O2 discussion forum would be the best place for solutions?
