iPod 5G with iPod kit in W203 ordinary Radio works great

Hi All,

Just in case you're interested, I installed an iPod integration kit (purchased from Steve/Wanda) into my 05 W203 at the weekend, plugged into the standard radio/CD thingie.

Plugged in my new 5G video iPod and it works great. Obviously no video, in fatc I've noticed the only menu items that appear are the Music ones, not even the Podcasts come up as an option oddly, but you can select them from the Podcast Genre if that is set correctly (not always by default on most podcasts).

Control is simple and owrks great, although 55GB worth of MP3s are really hard to choose from when you're driving along :bannana:

Glad it works, I've had a 5G on order and was nervous on whether it would work with my iPod kit.

The Poscasts menu and also the Audio Books menu don;t show with my existing 4G iPod with the official MB iPod kit, I think this is due to the iPod software.

Good news, soon I will have a three month old 4G 20Gb iPod for sale, anyone want to make an offer before it goes on the crooks paradise that is eBay?

Can you tell me whether you ordered the Ipod holder as well or just the interface kit. Also how easy was it to fit?

I have the holder - box made of black fuzz - around £13 and well worth it. Don't stick it down nutil you've decided where you want it.

Good to read about podcast genre checking. I take Chris Evans and Steve Wright podcasts.
