The dealer says that the SL's COMAND system cannot accept an iPOD connection. I suspect that he means that there is no official MB iPOD integration kit that allows much of the iPOD menus to be displayed and used.

Surely however you can connect the iPOD to the AUX input port .. can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

If you are referring to an R230 SL with MOST wiring (2005+ models), you won't be able to get an integrated iPod kit installed.

The 2005+ SL comands are made by Siemens, WITHOUT an Aux and thus not compatible with MB's iPod kit.

greetingz,

I was referring to the 2005+ COMAND (i.e. the one that has not wood/aluminium trim around it).

Why a different supply for just one model

This is a major pain.

Does the CD Changer that comes with the SL read MPs (so at least you can have lots of songs on 6CDs)?

Thanks.

1/ Upgrade to MP3 compatible CD changer (2005 release)

2/ TV tuner upgrade with 2 AUX inputs (iPOD Video + one other device)

3/ Aftermarket input device (emulates TV) coming later this year.

Siemens head units have been a problem.

1/ is the MP3 compatible CD changer only available from MB? If not, what make and model is suitable?

2/ if the COMAND had the TV Tuner option included from the factory, does that mean that there is an AUX input?

Thanks mucho :bannana:

The recent model is MP3 (99 songs per CD). ONLY Benz sells this Alpine unit.

All TV tuners have AUX (AV) input x 2

sorry to be slow on the uptake ...

am I right in thinking that if the car was manufactured in the 2nd half of 2005, the CD Changer would be MP3 compatible, leading to about 600 songs?

Thanks again.
