Hi

I have a 2010 E250 CDI coupe, for music I have a new iPod connected by the cable in the glove compartment. This was working fine until yesterday when the iPod decided to stop work and show the message incompatible when I connected it.
I brought the car in March and once I got the correct cables and lightning adapter to connect the iPod to the car, the only issue I had was that sometimes the Command system froze for up to 5 mins.

I connected my iPhone 6 via the same cable, it worked no problem, then there was a connection issue then it worked.

The iPod is still a mystery. Has anyone else had this problem?
I need to update the Command system, the navigation maps are out of date and I do wonder if an update would get rid of the issue with the freezing and now with the iPod thinking the system is incompatible.
What is the best way to get the Command system updated? Is it through the dealer?

My wife's SLK had a similar problem, telling me that a connected iPhone was incompatible. I cured it by doing a system Reset on COMAND, but be aware that doing so will erase the contents of the Music Register, plus all navigation history and any voice associations with your phone contacts.

From the symptoms you describe you do need a firmware update applied to the comand. Your local dealer can do this or a good independent with factory Xentry (such as us at Mercedes Retrofit Specialist - Comand.co.uk) ;)

Nice one thanks guys. Quick trip to the garage in the morn :(
How do I do a Command reset myself? Might as well try that before visiting the dealership.

It's an option on the System menu.

Do also turn the iPod fully off and then on again. But the freezing etc needs a firmware update.
