Hi,

Is there a schedule for GTGs - I saw somewhere that there is one in Germany. Sounds good to me.

Also, I was wondering whether anyone has done any tours through South of France, Italy, Alps, Switzerland, Germany, France etc that they would recommend. I am very keen to explore the potential of the SL by doing a weeks tour in Europe sometime in the summer..

Any ideas/recommendations would be appreciated.

I did Switzerland in 2001 and you must include the three passes in any tour.

Grimsel, Furka and Susten Passes, and if there is time St Gotthard Pass and tunnel.

I've done France and Spain almost every year for about 20 years now, having a wife who's not overly fond of flying... :(

So for what its worth, this would be my absolute dream 'money no object' trip if I had a 7/10 days in an SL -

  1. Ferry to Santander or Bilbao
    Bilbao - Guggenheim musuem
San Sebastian/Donostia - (Hotel Maria Christina)
    Eugenie-les-Bains (Hotel - Les Pres d'Eugenie)
    Bordeaux - (St James Hotel)
Brive la Gaillarde (Chateau de Castel Novel)
    Lyon (Cour des Loges)
    Avallon (Moulin des Ruats)
    Paris (who cares)
    [/list=1]

Over the years we've generally done one really good hotel en route, with the rest being motel type...what you have above is the best we've stayed in put back to back in one trip.

You'd gain a few lbs, shed more £s, but what a trip. Go for it!
    :D
