Right,

I am going to install a Comand system sooner or later but when I do, it will be a unit with the green Video In connector.

Now, I am proposing to build an inline "dongle" that will split out the video from the ipod and route it to the green FAKRA while the audio and power is passed through the "dongle" and managed by the MB ipod interface.

Am I wasting my time? ie is there already a "splitter" that can handle this task?

I want to do something very similar with my Comand. I fitted a Comand with a green Farka connector earlier this year and now have an HTC phone with video output, so I wanted to get the phone displayed on the Comand screen.

Am not too bothered about the video in motion as I prefer to concentrate on driving and just want another gadget in the car.

I hooked the phone up to the connector and - nothing. Apparently the Comand needs coded for video input.

My other thought was how would the comand work with a separate video input source and audio input source. Can it be programmed to merge the 2 inputs or do I need a denison gateway or similar to do this. I really dont want to spend too much on another gimmick.

Really interested to see how you get on.

Hi Br0ke,

Damn, didn't consider the need to dual use the aux and video in

Like you, I am more interested in the challenge rather than watching "My Name is Earl" while driving along....

But I do need to know whether Comand can display from the video input and play soundtrack from the Aux input...

I had the CD playing today and pressed the Video button. I, or course, get the message 'No Video Signal' but the CD keeps playing.

It is the same when the Nav is on, so it may be built into it to keep playing the Aux when Video is pushed.

i really must get around to getting the Comand reprogrammed to activate Video.
