Lyonheart K British Sports Car Goes On Sale

We’re glad to report that the deliciously retro Lyonheart K sports car we first told you about in February of last year hasn’t turned out to be vaporware.

The people at Lyonheart, a startup based in Coventry, England, have continued to develop their new sports car, whose lines were penned by designers at Vizualtech and Classic Factory and have clearly been inspired by the Jaguar E-Type.

While only 50 examples were originally planned, at a price of almost half a million euros a piece, strong demand has seen Lyonheart revise this figure to 250 units, which meant prices could also be revised downwards thanks to greater economies of scale.

At the same time, strong demand has also seen Lyonheart announce a new convertible version of its new K sports car.

Pricing is now set at 360,000 euros (approximately $464,000) for the coupe, and 375,000 euros ($483,500) for the convertible.

That’s quite the deal considering the car’s bespoke nature, aluminum and carbon fiber construction, and supercar-like performance. It also doesn’t heart that the Lyonheart K is one of the most gorgeous cars currently in production.

The car is built around a lightweight aluminum chassis with double wishbone front suspension, a multi-link setup in the rear, and electronic dampers at all four corners. The curb weight comes in at less than 3,500 pounds, though this can vary depending on specification.

Power comes from a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 built by Cosworth and tuned to deliver 567 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Matched to this engine is a six-speed automatic from ZF, and drive is sent to the rear wheels only. A limited-slip differential is also fitted.

Lyonheart promises 0-62 mph acceleration in under 4.0 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 186 mph.

Standard goodies include 20-inch wheels, aluminum panels (carbon fiber is optional), bi-xenon headlamps, parking sensors, leather and wool trim, wood veneers on the dash, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and a 7-inch touch-screen interface with satellite navigation. Of course, Lyonheart also has its own personalization program that can pretty much add anything your heart may desire.

Convertible models get an electrically operated roof, which can be raised or lowered in just 12 seconds and operated at speeds of up to 31 mph.

It's ok, but a bit too "retro E type" for my taste. Interior looks nice though.... :)

Very very nice....only thing I'm not sure about is the huge slab of white metal. Jars a bit.

Thats what Jaguar should be building.

Really like the interior except for the stupid Lyonheart lettering on the dash, and the exterior is a little fussy.
But damn, that is a good looking car.

I'm a bit more negative than that. The rear looks weird. The styling is just too artificially retro.

And the interior isn't to my taste. I'm thinking old Daimler meets R170 SLK meets Rover 75.

Oddly though it looks utterly brilliant from above.

Looks nice from the outside, but 360,000 euros for a car made in a shed, no thanks.

Love the view from above! Not sure I like the car overall. Definately not sure about the thread title.....it is Holy week :(

To me it looks like an early development of what would eventually be refined into the beautifully iconic E Type Jag - about 50 years ago.

Not keen.

No, I'm not into the retro E type look, then I've never liked the E Type anyway.

Oh mighty Moderators where are you when a poster uses this sort of profanity! Ban the heretic!

...perhaps because that's where it mimics the E type closest?

The rest is a bit of a mongrel- even though based on E-type cues, to me the rear says 'vette, the front says Maserati, the side vents remind me of a styling salon one-off Ferrari from the 60s.

The name's a bit naff too.

But every new frivolous luxury or performance car is a welcome arrival in a grey (or silver) world.

I agree Paul, it seems to be concave where the E type was convex, supermodel pinched where the Jaguar was Loren voluptuous. The interior is a bit ponderous, but unlike the original, the steering wheel obscures the dials. That's progress for you!
