Key Coding ML W163

Hi all,

I ordered a spare key for the new motor.... but although the doors open manually, the transponder is recognised by ignition barrel and hence starts the engine the remote locking wont code????

The guys at my local MB dealer tried to code using their computer but still no luck??

I would welcome any ideas or comments from anyone else who has suffered the same problem.

I had a very similar problem with one my keys for the ML after changing the battery. I followed the procedure in the manual about how to 're-introduce' the key to the car, but still it wouldnt unlock the car (good job I had the spare with me!) I took the car in to the stealership and they fixed the key quickly and easily on their computer. I would have thought that if you have the correct part for your car , presumeably you have as it starts the car, that the Star computer could have fixed it for you.

Have you run through the battery change procedure in the owners manual?

I will check the battery change procedure.... but the dealer reckons there is a fault. I guess I want some reassurance they are right and not just uninterested.

hi lads im new at this. i have a w163 with a central locking problem. the remote doesnt work anymore. the funny thing is, when i recode it ,it works. but only once. i plugged it in and theres no fault. can anyone shed a little light on this subject

Did you find out the solution then I know it was a long time ago.. but I have the same issue help me...
