Hey,

Just brought a 2000 C320 from a non dealership garage and they only supplied one working key. When I complained, they gave me another fob to a different vehicle and said MB could program it for me.

Well after talking to my local MB dealership, I was told to put the 'other car' fob into my ignition and the car would reprogram the key...?

Oh course it didn't work but does anyone know if this has any content or is even possible?

Thanks

Not possible I'm afraid... You would need a "new" key to be programmed by DC VIA the Stealership... In the mean time I would get the missing key deactivated by your Stealership!!!

So they can be added to the MBClub Hall of Shame and Eternal Damnation, which dealership told you that?

Taken to the logical conclusion, that would mean we could all activate any MB if it had the same type of key as our own.

you should have got three keys (one card size in thickness) with the car - i would query that with the dealership aswell.

It was Mercedes Benz of Gatwick... and for a half hour while-you-wait 'inspection' booked in for 10.00am, I drove out at 1.15pm!!

I get the logical conclusion bit and of course this makes complete sense. I was thinking maybe if you replaced keys within a few seconds and all that clever trickery buggery type stuff...

The good news is that you have a key for someone else's car! If I were you I'd blip the thing whenever you're near a 1997+ MB, you might get lucky! ;)

I almost bought a 2nd hand SLK from them, but they were asking too much and wouldn't budge on the sticker price, got a better deal from MB Walton, lucky escape by the sounds of it!
