Keyless Go, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, etc, etc; worth it?

I just prefer to have the full use of the excellent hands free options of the Merecedes-Benz as opposed to a third party hands free system.

How easy is it to connect a third party system to the car so that the hi-fi system cuts out whilst you are on the telephone? Will it also go through the hi-fi speaker system?

I'd prefer to have the factory fit kit, hopefully soon MB will support Bluetooth, Lexus, BMW etc do.

I understand having the 6310 dedicated for in-car use, but what happens when someone calls you on your normal number? Also for me I wouldn't want to use the 6310 to make calls as it would be at my expense rather than my companies! I suppose you could swap the sim cards each time you get in/out of the car.

My after market car kit does mute the stereo, but it doesn't come through the cars speakers. This is because of the fibre-optic wiring apparently.

Hi Richard,
Once again I understand all your very valid points and having two mobile phones can be very confusing so much so as to perhaps be a hindrance.

My wife has a mobile phone on a yearly contract and the car telephone is 'Pay as You go' The sim card is interchangeable, but it might well get confusing. I also have a mobile again on a yearly contract. All the phones are with Vodaphone, so we can telephone the car using our free minutes and the car phone is used mainly to make contact and then we phone back. :)

This is ideal for our very individual circumstance but perhaps useless for yours.

If anyone has any good ideas for a better set-up please feel free to voice them.

A big considration down here is quality of signal, the inbuilt aerial on the car is beyond excellent. Before having this system calls were always getting cut off. (Torquay is built on seven hills and signal strength is very intermittant)

In my experience Vodaphone is better than 02, and most other suppliers are not useable. I have not changed suppliers though for two years. Things 'might' have improved.

Regards,
John

Just heard it's too late to make changes to my order, so no tyre pressure monitor for me. ho-hum.

If you want to change your options you can up to two days before build. I had to change an option and was told with a month to go that it was impossible by my dealer. I spoke to customer services who gave me the number for customer relations at sindelfingen and I was told I could ammend/add to the order up to two days before the build date. The dealers know this but basically just can't be ****d.

NOW I FIND OUT     You have really made my blooming day

I was told by my dealer, four weeks, but I only tried Mercedes-Benz UK and they said the same thing!!!

Thanks for the info,
:) John

:(

However, I might take this as a sign that I should not be spending 400 quid on tyre pressure monitoring after all :)

Dont want sacred wars and flame - but Orange provides a bit better service in GSM than others. And they have Single Number service (if I remember that right) where you can have several devices (phones, blackberries etc) on same number. Available for business customer only though.

Cheers

Just mulling over options - nice position to be in of course - and looking at these two items. They sound nice, but seem to cost the earth for the relative convenience...

Anyone here with strong feelings as to whether they're options worth having? Any other non-obvious options I ought to consider?

thanks much...

High on the list of things I would seriously consider paying for is the multi-contour seat with heating and ventilation. Seeing as the chair is used 100% of the time the car is driven it seems to me that the best quality seat makes or breaks the car and the feeling of driving it.

Second to that are the usual COMAND, voice control. rain sensor and dimming mirrors, phone kit and sound system upgrade.
