Kleemann SLK 55K S8

I've never seen one of these advertised by a dealer, they normally change hands privately. Did the dealer realise what he had ?
I've only ever seen one of these in the flesh, a silver one, and they do look like an 'ordinary' 55.

Short answer, not really, and when told by his technician he didn't adjust the price enough to reflect what it is. To be fair it’s a very small market for cars like this.

The number of people looking for an SLK 55 is small to begin with and I suspect many would be put off by the conversion, so the market is even smaller still.

That said, the people who would want it, would really want it, which requires the network to sell “off market” or put it in a well publicised auction of similar cars.

I often miss out on gems so I was quick with this one. I missed an ultra low mileage Smart Roadster by 5 minutes last month (my own fault thinking I’d be the only one).

I also missed out on the “been for sale for 10+ years” Brabus Rocket by a matter of hours. It’s since been for sale by the same dealer but a high dose brave pill is required.

I don’t buy cars for investments - in fact this is for my wife to nip around in - but I think it’s probably going to appreciate in value offsetting some running costs

Noughties tuner cars and limited number AMGs will be the next group to fall into the sights of collectors like the Patina Collective, so they may be snapped up.

It’s not the reason I bought though. I bought it to use and we’ll do just that 👍🏻

Have you got an engine pic you could post?......and do you know exactly what they do to the motor on the conversion process??

Always loved the little SLK 55's, that thing must shift power to weight. top purchase!

I don’t have a photo of the engine but I can get one easily. Do I need to include a can of custard? 👀😁

The main components of the conversion is the supercharger (with intercooler and intake manifold), sports camshafts, and full stainless steel exhaust system including downpipes and four racing cats.

Conversions were completed at the factory in Denmark, or at Kleemann’s in-country agents or distributors, which for the UK was Kleemann UK Ltd, also known as SKG Performance or Mayfield Garage.

Wowzers, that's a beaut 😍
I'm going with the crowd here: the rims really work. The soft edges of the spokes compliment the curves of the car. We definitely need some more pics when you get the chance. Nice one Mr BD.
Absolutely beautiful, although I'm left a little disappointed that there is no under- bonnet view or pic' showing the nappa interior.

"Not quite" an adapted milk float, is it. ;)

Agreed Will. Great to see it’s untouched aside from the nuclear mass under the bonnet.

Would love to see some interior photos when you have time Rob. And maybe a graphic engine bay shot. 🥳

Here you go, a photo of the engine bay. It would have been fairy full under there with the original engine however the great big supercharger and relocated bits and pieces - like the air injection pump - makes it even more full under there 😁

That’s the sort of thing I have in mind. Any suggestions on exhaust specialists capable of a top quality job?
I would expect the likes of Simpsons or BTB (the latter are probably more convenient for you) would be able to come up with something - both provide exceptional quality work.

Much appreciated, thank you 👍🏻

Hayward and Scott might also be worth a shout. I’ve never used them but they’ve been around a long time doing custom work for all sorts.
Smashing, thank you, I’ve heard of them too - good call 👍🏻
