Hi guys, wondering what it roughly should cost for changing air filter, fuel/oil filter and brake fluid change by a specialist for a w212 59 plate??

you don't need a specialist to change oils and filters - you need one to inspect the parts that will fail due to wear and tear etc so that they can be replaced in a timely manner - its a matter of safety, responsibility to the vehicles users, other road users and ongoing reliability really.

Ok but what should I be paying if I were to get these done?
Apparently these need doing after 47000 miles or on a B5 service..

Labour rates vary and it also depends if you want them to fit genuine parts.

A decent local garage up North might charge £150 for this lot if using genuine filters and aftermarket oil that meets MB specs.

I was thinking of buying the parts myself from ECP an then just getting some1 to fit them..

Paid £298 for a B service at an MB dealer. Local Indy wanted £275 for a B service on my W204 C220 cdi.

Check with an MB dealer for a B service, they might not be as expensive as you think.

I've had the b service done by main dealers but they wanted another £300 for the 3 additional items which make up the 5 on the B5 service however I said no because I knew £300 extra was just extortionate! So I'm just trying to figure out what it should really cost if done by mb/mb specialist or normal garage..

roughly where in uk are you? not that it makes a difference more because I know mercmedics in Surrey and obvious Ollie @ PCS in Hants will do a good price or give you an idea

East Midlands pal , probs ring a few specialists close by but was just after a rough estimate if any1 had an idea..

Diesel?

Between an hour and an hour thirty.
Half hour for the brake fluid change, ten minutes for the air filter, twenty for the oil and filter, fifteen for the fuel.

Just an update - got this done for £155 inc by indie mb service centre blidworth/Mansfield half the price of stealers quote! Top guys at indie v. Experienced n helpful so highly recommend! Will be using again for sure.

Instead of looking at price, look at time...

changing air filter: 5-10 min
fuel filter: 5-15 min (with a ramp)
oil filter: 15-30 min (time to wait for the oil to drain or be sucked out - time waiting can be spend doing other things)
brake fluid: 30-60 min (including bleeding of brakes if necessary)

If you then want costs; tally up the time vs costs... so, prices local to me:

£45p/h specialist
£95p/h dealer

If you're looking at getting it done fixed price, expect the dealer/indy to add a 10%-30% extra amount in case something takes longer. This is perfectly normal. If you prefer to pay by time, many mechanics will charge by the hour and "it takes as long as it takes"

Cheers will keep in mind for next time..

By the way my price included parts as they were oem and cheaper than ecp..

I make it around £80 in parts (OEM with oils/fluid) so that's £75 labour....about right for backstreet.
