Hi all,
I have an E220 CDI, 2004, equiped with Comand DVD. I am using the Euro map GPS Vers. 7 included info trafic.
What do I need to pass directly to the latest version. My System info are here below :

Fab news. I've just bought the APS V9.0 DVD and a firmware upgrade CD for my W211. I'll be installing later in the week when it arrives (£122 (original) from ebay).

One thing I've really struggled to find though is the content of V9. I'm leaping from V3.0 (from 2004) so I'm expecting big changes. I'm aware of new roads (obviously), ETA, live-ish traffic updates and dynamic route planng to avoid jams. Has anything else changed since the heady days of V3.0?

I dont think there is a V9 for the W211 out yet

I did wonder myself but having done some checking it is the very latest version. And I also checked that it's for the W211 and not the other models in the range that use similar numbering. I think they're latest is 10.x.

Still not Fixed

Dont forget that the 221 has an error in that when you are heading say East or West its 40 miles out from Greenwich, MB are doing an update for this.

My best friend who is a pilot picked this up as he knows all of the figures Latitude and Longitude from flying, as he said, very few would pick this up.

He had a battle with MB, but my friend said, if its there,I want it to be right, and MB backed down and aree doing this update.

This must affect all cars within this time frame

I can confirm that the Greenwich lat/long problem has not been fixed yet. I took my 2007 E280 CDI Estate into Tony Purslow of Guildford this week to have the problem fixed. They said they applied all the updates to the system that they could (and I had just updated the COMAND DVD disk to v9.0), and the problem still persists. They contacted the MB German headquarters, and were told that MB was aware of this problem, but that they "don't support" the lat/long function on the E class COMAND at this time.

I must say that besides this one issue I really like the car. But it mystifies me why MB continues to put such a rubbish sat-nav into their cars. My Prius, which is a 2005 model, has a FAR superior factory sat-nav, and the new TomTom or Garmin models are absolutely brilliant. Why doesn't MB get it?

I got myself a new Sat Nav DVD for my CLS to upgrade from version 5.0 to v9.0. I got an upgrade disc with it and it seems to have updated everything, new roads and addresses it wouldnt find before and a few more POIs but it still doesnt seem capable of showing ETA or distance remaining on the bottom of the map screen. Is that normal or am I missing something? Also I was told that the new maps show Cash Machines. Im getting Casinos but no cash machines

Youre head unit needs the MY07 update done to it, then you will find a setting under MAP->Display (I think!) to turn it on along with the normal option that allows you to display the GPS location all the time. Check the option is actually not there before talking to dealer about MY07 update.

Ive checked it a hundred times, that makes sense. I dont think its had anything updated from 2005 on the Comand side.

Its a case of the dealer sticking the correct update disk in and waiting 20 minutes and the update will be done !

Why do you have a Euro COMAND (I presume you have a Euro head unit in your W211 and the normal DVD map drive in the trunk with a US map disk in) ?


Yes, if you do the update to MY07 firmware you can display the ETA on the main map screen all the time - which is useful

i have the navigation in trunk and it does not work
i've made a update to the head unit using W211 589 13 22 00 and i can't find for the trunk processor
the error is No DVD please insert Navigation DVD (boot)
as i read i gues i need something like w220 589 04 22 00
i called an MB service where i live in bucharest and they only sell the dvd with navigation by ~250 Euro
if anyone can help me please do

I have this disk if anyone needs it. Remember its not backward compatible - i.e once you have upgraded beyond this version you cannot go back.

This version allows MP3 and access to the engineering menu

May I please borrow your disk if you still have it.
