Lease companies and ConnectMe

I just emailed [email protected] asking for confirmation they were happy to enable ConnectMe on my car and got a response that afternoon saying they were. I forwarded the email to my MB dealer and it was done.

I did this on the day after delivery of the vehicle.
Hi fourspoons - is your vehicle a company or personal lease? My dealer is saying that Alphabet is saying no to connectme? [emoji53]

Right so I have had the big no from Lex, they have a full document on connected services which explains all the reasons and drawbacks. I've questioned it as it does not refer to control of vehicle charging (only temp control) but they are not budging.

There is even a section detailing if you choose to get it activated without their permission...

I feel a bit stuck.

Having a ding dong with Lex myself. My point is they didn't advise they wouldn't connect when the car was ordered therefore 'mis-sold'. My fleet manager is backing me, even had a phone call from a Lex director today or apparently he was. We are even holding back car orders from Lex at the moment because of it. I'm up for handing the car back, I had an email to say they would connect and now they are going back on that......will keep you updated.

I have a company lease with Alphabet and they said yes (if that helps)

Thanks Pawkins - mines Alphabet too and they said yes in the end! All the best

Have had similar discussions with Hitachi who are supplying my company car. Initially I was told they wouldn't do it at all because they were unhappy about Data Protection. However, after I challenged this they agreed that I could sign a waiver to say that I was happy that the manufacturer/dealer would have access to the information, that Hitachi would have no control over this, and that I had to maintain the car through Hitachi and not anyone else.

Seems to be a fairly straightforward and pragmatic approach. Ultimately, I have to agree to Mercedes knowing this information if I bought the car myself, so I'm just acknowledging that to the leasing company.

The bad news is that the car has been delayed further and probably won't be with my until September though ordered in Jannuary, so still won't be able to use ConnectMe for a while yet!

My lease company (Arval)have also said no. Reasons given are, data protection, non approved repairs and potential for theft as criminals can hack the application to unlock and steal the car!

Update: Ding Dong with Lex has resulted in mine being switched on. All connected now. I went down the line of the car is not to the specification I ordered. They didn't inform me until the car was one week away from delivery that they wouldn't connect. My fleet manager was also on my side which helped. We threatened to reject car as it was not to contract. Apparently Lex are well aware of the issues surrounding this and are in discussions with MB on it, they reckon they are 12 weeks away from a solution...... Good luck all keep fighting the fight !

Awesome news. I will email my Lex contact again and see if there is any movement.

My car is from Central Contracts who sourced through Arval and my c350e connect me has been turned on today.

Had to get copy of V5 from Arval, supply copy of driving license & business card to my local dealer. Currently showing my charge status as 41% and have set a notification to txt me when it's charged. No idea if it will work or not!

P.s. Is it right that there's a lot less info on the android app as opposed to the web app?

Do you a confirmation from Lex that you can share please? Will try this with them as a last resort otherwise car is going back! My email is [email protected]

Any other tips on how to get the connect me feature activated will be much appreciated.

Hey. I can't figure out how to send a private message on this forum.
If you can PM me then please do so and I'll let you know how I managed to get it all activated. I'm too with Arval.

I hope snowman is right

But understand drivers post as it makes sense as to why it won't be enabled

Stuart I'm surprised that he had a VW considering their emissions history and his desire to make a better world for our youth

In the end it was Saville's own 'emissions' that were the real problem.
