Hi all

When I bought my W202 the gear gaiter was quite shabby, so I bought a replacement off fleabay.

It's slightly the wrong colour, so wondered how easy it was to paint. I guess I'd need a spray leather paint (one which flexes) and I guess I'd also need some sort of sealant or lacquer too.

Can anyone recommend a brand or offer any tips?

cheers

Back in the days when we connelized cars, it was cellulose based with a banana oil mixed in to make it flexible, there are kits out there on the web for doing this

Thanks for the above - I've bought some of the shoe paint and will give it a go!

I'll let you know the results once I've done it.

Cheers!

That leather shoe paint really did the job! The gaiter and the gear knob are now a nice and shiny black!

A cheap and easy way of re-colouring or freshening up!

Cheers spaceman!
