Limit on garage size reversed to bring drivers back off the streets

We have a garage 20 foot wide by 30 foot long and a drive which could park about a dozen or more cars.

No prizes for guessing where the junk is kept and where the cars are parked!

That aptly proves the point. People just fill the garages with crap and have no intention of using them for cars, irrespective of size.

Don't your old sofa's and boxes get wet on the drive..??

Actually, the Mrs has promised that if I sell the MG and shift the rest of the crap she will buy me a drum kit to go in the garage - I've not told the neighbours yet obviously.

On a more serious note I really dont mind the cars on the drive, they can't be seen from the road and I always thought that it was a bad thing to put a wet car in the garage due to lack of ventilation to dry it out.

Our late 1920's house has a 20'X10' garage at the back but bugger all use as the there is only room to turn off the access road for a car the size of the original Mini. Makes a good parking spot for the bike and a great workshop too.

I reverse my W209 into my single 1970's garage, getting it "tight" onto drivers side. This then allows me to climb over passenger seat to get out of car.Result can easily open door without damage.Crazy I know but I now think its 2nd nature.

Nobody else in my street uses their garage to park a car. For the first day in a while, the evening has been light enough for me to dare to park the car in the garage - I wouldn't even attempt it in the dark. The B barely fits so I wouldn't even try and get anything bigger in.

It's much easier to drive in and reverse out. That B fits no problem and a B is a wide car.

There is no chance of parking my car in the garage! It's full of crap!

Saying that, only a very smal car would fit. Driveway have space for 2 cars in tandem.

I know what you mean

I have never seen the point of a garage unless you can get into it and get out of the car easily (i.e. open your doors normally on both sides). In effect I'd only use it if I had a 1.5/Double width garage.... ideally with an electric door..... oh and would be useful to have a door leading inside the house from there. ;)
