hi am new on this forum so hello to you all. i have just got a project lt35 tdi van with a blown engine, so was thinking of fitting a om605 with m pump. will this fit to the gearbox ,is the box strong enough for say 200hp box is a 711.614. or maybe an auto any advise would be good cheers

The engine wont fit your gearbox, or fit under the bonnet.

Your better off playing with pump and turbo on the vw engine.

Just wondering if the OM642 out of a Vito with it's auto gearbox might be the one to look at.

Different bellhousing pattern, starter on the wrong side, sump and oil pickup will need modifying.

Do you prefer an auto or manual gearbox?
Are you planning to keep the power around 200hp, or are you going to aim higher?
How much do you want to spend?

If your set on using the om605, you'll need the manual gearbox from the sprinter to get the correct bellhousing and starter location. If you want auto, I'd go for the old 4 speed from a w124 or a c36 which have no electronic controls.

The inlet manifold from the 605 is too big to fit, so you'll need one from an om606 and cut it down.

Fuel pump wise the pump from the 602 will run the engine, and can be modified to give the fuel increase to 200hp.

lt35 fitting 605

that makes sense. was going manual but leaning towards auto now.manifolds no prob can fab that, probably go 250hp ,like the pulling power for towing my race car.just doing a discovery 2 and fitting 605 with 7.5 m pump and e300 turbo.so was thinking on those lines.how strong is that 4 speed auto from w124 or c36, as was thinking e300 auto with comp shifter as told there strong.but no comp shift cheaper me thinks

The 4 speed will hold 300hp easily, but I wouldn't go past that with a turbo diesel due to the torque you'll be making.

Have you visited the superturbodiesel website?

won't be going past 300 for sure but thats good a non electric box will hold that, are they easy to come by. yes i am on superturbodiesels too good site

Hello did you ever get any further in doing the 605 swap ? I'm in the same boat were I have a bust vw engine but I have a sprinter gearbox and I have options of 662, 605 or 606 engines I know 602 sump will fit 605 and 662 but will have to change oil pickup in sump. Cheers
