M111 Larger Crankshaft Pulley

why didn't u completely remove the clutch ?

Because it needs the clutch for closed throttle operation due to the volume of gas being forced.

Oops...Sorry, not supposed to reply into this thread... :o

he could have deleted it and remap the ecu

I could have but didn't see the point, not much you can do with the ECU on this car except solder in a new eeprom which was done.

I meant it was as far as you can go with the induction side.

The reason I went for cams valves head etc.. is I'm an old school tuner and like engineering solutions that last and don't affect the engines health. I have a 15 year old car that is mint body and mehanical and want to keep it that way. I know 2 people who ran both and under drive and over drive pulleys on the same engine, both failed within months.

Screwing power out by remapping is easy on modern cars gaining more power on a 15 year old design is a little more tricky and requires a more elegant solution

LOL! Internally tuning an engine is what affects its health! U might not understand it but this is the ugly truth...

Only been in the Motorsport business 33 years so think I know what I'm talking about. We've built more race engines than I care to remember never had a failure not even in the 750 BHP+ V8 race engines we build for clients. So when it comes to tuning and building a poxy 2.3 four pot I think we might be on top of our game :D

I may need your help when I turbocharge my poxy 4 pot 1.8 :D

No offence to four pots or I would not be running one but its a straight forward engine compared to some of the new stuff out there :D I love my CLk had it 5 years now and grin every time I get in it. When I get in it and don't grin I know it's time for it to go.:D

No I know, but you've done to your car what I want to achieve with mine. So when you have time and I have some funds available we should have a long and fruitful chat on how to go about correctly turbocharging my car as I am a veritable novice.

No problem I'm often over the North West or we could meet up at one of the GTG and you can have a drive in mine see what you think. To be fair my input was building all the bits back together which is the easy bit :D but I can put you in touch with the same people I spoke to when I started mine who will tell you honestly what can and cant be done my advice is to really do your homework on what you want then talk to the people and then decide if it is worth spending the money.

The main driver for doing mine was I wanted the same power as a CLK430 but did not want the autobox so the choice was selling mine and buying a 430 and converting it to a manual or trying to get my 230k to a Clk 430's power. I already had a good starting point as mine had the Brabus K1 tuning kit on when I bought it so was 231 bhp compared to the standard 197 bhp.

Happy to chat though over a beer and sandwich anytime you want :thumb:

Thank you, you're a gent

the CLK 430 is 279bhp isn't it? not 430? (wish mine had been 430.. sadly it barely scraped 290 after filters and a remap...)

Sorry a badly worded post which I have now corrected, I meant the CLK's 430 power which as you quite correctly say is 279 bhp and I reckon my CLK is now the right side of 270 bhp, on the dynolicious app for the iphone it came out at 272 bhp, so I'm in the same ball park but think I'm as far as I can go.

wondering what to do next the CLK's a keeper but fancying an older SL

buy an SL 320 - then twin turbo it... do mine at the same time as will halve development costs... productionise the kit and we could be millionaires this time next year Rodney....
