M3 Touring: Where AMG Failed it - BMW Nailed it!!

The new M3 will probably be taken up by BMW fanboys but the telling question would be, how many Mercedes/Audi/Jag owners would switch brands and buy it?
This is where I believe Mercedes have erred with the latest C63 ,and find not only Mercedes owners shun it but owners of other brands. They could sell us the V8 models, but I don't see the love for the 4 pot hybrid.

After watching shmee 150's review on the c63 and he loves AMG it definitely won't be coming here 🙂 I was also talking to someone who had a 2020 c63 as well as a 2015 edition 1 he hates the 2020 version

I know two diehard AMG fans who have bought (and received) M3 touring and are not bothering with the C 63 estate….

I must be the odd one out but I think it looks quite good from some angles. I don't love it but don't hate it either.

I wouldn't blame them if its the 2litre 4 pot in the C63.
A crying shame the V8 is no more in that car.

I am one considering the new m3 because it’s a better car in terms of sound than the new c63

This makes me sad typing this but I think AMG could have done a lot with a v6 engine but anyway they made their decision

Harry is a man without an agenda and always gives a good honest review. Note he still doesn't like the look, the B3 just does it so much better on that front.

My F11 535i is only 10cm longer and it's lighter than the M3 Touring! A 59 litre fuel tank will get annoying in the M3, mine is 70 litres.

Sorry, but I prefer the 'edgy' styling of the M3 compared to the 'slightly melted' styling of the C63 (but still prefer my 204 C63 to both, I'm that old-school!)
The thing that gets me is everyone criticising the over-large front grille of the M3/4 - at least that is a styling 'decision' - whereas the crashing mess of the flared rear wheel arch meeting the non-flared rear door seems to be lost - that's way more offensive to me, both in terms of its looks and in the fact that it is (presumably) simple cost-cutting, not making a flared rear door for the M cars.... [rant over!]

Mmmmm....

That seems to be about the same as all the tests I've seen on it........

I'm moving from my C43 to a BMW M340i shortly, as in when it arrives from the factory. I think Mercedes have done themselves no favours with their pricing, their 'one car one price' policy and the 4 pot engines.

The fact is it's 86k......

You are correct but any car with a waiting list the manufacturer will surely build with high profit options added and the customer will be charged whatever and offered on a take it or leave it basis.

I can't see any being built at less than 100 grand and if they do actually build any 86 grand ones they will be the back of the queue !

Great choice (of car and colour) 👍

Many said the Chris Bangle styling of BMW cars wouldn't catch on, oh how wrong they were

Not a fan of Alpina a close friendly friend years ago had a Alpina B5 (E60) and went through 3 superchargers on it, that was enough for me to be put off them

I actually like the new M3 I think the saloon and the estate look fantastic and they are really capable cars

Got to love an auction for stripping off the BS that car dealers add on. The M3 Touring on Collecting Cars went unsold...

Last bid was £86,500 and some change, plus just over £5k in buyer's fees. The seller said the the list price was around £91,500. Reserve not met, must have been expecting some flip profit.

Shows there is no market for these at over RRP. Who would have thought?
