M3 Touring: Where AMG Failed it - BMW Nailed it!!

Who will pull out the wallet to buy such a high performance, ugly, expensive small estate with silly seats that's a bad compromise?

A message to the world that you're so poor that you can't afford multiple vehicles?

"Halo marketing" but not something you'd use to take the dog for a walk, commute or cross a continent.

That demands something more... Goldilocks principle - Wikipedia

"but not something you'd use to take the dog for a walk, commute or cross a continent"

and that in a nutshell is what my E63 is used for (except walk the dog as I don't do pets)
Exactly, because you can.

The M3 touring is too small for the dog, gives worse ride quality for the commute, and is has irritating seats for a 12 hour drive....

The M3's positioning itself at the Audi RS6 Avant end of the scale, whereas the C63 and E63 aren't that extreme. (The Labrador begs for an E63)

That interior look great though!!

With you on all that. My point is only about the all things to everyman thing. I was keen on the idea of an RS6 Avant "back in the day," but when I drove it I just found it a bit too over the top as a familienwagen

I love my little straight six 3 series. A great runabout and workhorse.

But the buckets in that M3 touring are a challenge for use every day, and there are a few "traditionally built" passengers who would struggle to fit or even to settle Granny's achy back into.

Like a 911 or M3 coupe, fine to dash about in, but methinks the novelty would wear out if you did 12 hours in them

The seats are perfect for all with a healthy BMI.

Likewise my old E91, despite being a lowly 4 pot.
My BIL disparagingly described it as "a pretend estate car..."
I pointed out it wasn't an estate, it was a Touring 😉
My Fox Red Labrador says the same thing about his Grandpa's 3 series.

She prefers her Dad's X3, and my various E500 estates

Exactly. Which is fine for us 34 inchers.

With two thirds of all adults either overweight or obese, and that's pretty much everyone between 50-70 - including Harris, Clarkson, Metcalfe and Leno, bucket seats aren't a great idea for the curry run, picking up Granny, or the 14 hour drive to "Monte."

Alpina B3 is the best wagon on sale by a mile.

Not compromised like the M3 T with daft seats, goofy grill and twitchy chassis. And 12 month wait followed by a good dose of depreciation.

I won't even comment on the S206 C63 other than its a lardy, crap sounding mistake of epic proportions.

Amen. (Although the Red Fox Lab still wants more space in the boot. But she has no vote in this game)

Sorry to hear about the S206
