Hi
My passenger seat recognition pad is shot. A mate has a passenger seat with a good pad in it . Is it possible to take the seat base with the recognition pad in it and replace my seat base with it. his seat is manual mine is electric
Thanks in advance

Yes.

Depending on the model, you may have to unbolt the seat runner from the frame that holds the electrics, and unbolt the rear of the seat from the base.

Unplug the wiring for the seat sensor, remove the seat pad from the sprung base , normally if you kneel on the seat base you can release the material that just "hooks" in to the base rails.

Many thanks. That will save me a lot as a new recognition pad is £345 plus Vat then fitting. The seat is going to cost me £50

Why don,t you just remove the pad from the electric seat and fit it in yours? Though do check the plug for the seat pad has the same amount of pins as there is/was a couple different types of pads fitted on this era of MB.

Thanks for the option. Just assumed it would be easier to swap the whole base if it just bolts on/of rather than dismantling the base to fit the recognition pad.

If you can swap the whole seat base onto the old runners it should definitely be easier.
