Mapped C43 better than C63?

C43 added up = 7
C63 added up = 9 so it wins :D

I've now bored myself stupid trying to work out which cars model number add up to the maximum  Peugeot 807 =15 ?

:dk:

One man builds the engine using computer controlled tools ...

Externally, it's a marketing tool as c. 99.5% of potential buyers don't / won't understand (the 'use of tools' in) manufacturing engineering.

Internally, it's a nice 'career pathway' for the best line fitters to move onwards and upwards. That's good.:D

Figures are very impressive for the C43, but styling alone the C63 is far superior.

Also in regards to the 4 pot 6 pot argument, I've got 381 horses that could put up a strong statement similar to this one you're having

Porsche Model numbers will probably win

I think the Chinese might have this sewn up with things like:

The Shanghuan SCEO HBJ6474Y (which looks suspiciously like the lovechild of an X5 and Landcruiser 120) and the Golden Dragon FZ6490E38

It's not a race out there boys, it's all about the experience. If you get your kicks with more grip than power and that feeling of awesome acceleration regardless of the time, place or conditions, then fine, fill your boots. I certainly used to, with a history of pretty well tweaked Audis (RS6's, S4 etc), but it all became a little bit meh....

... which is why I get the most awesome fun now out of a Morgan 3-wheeler, which has oodles more torque than grip and needs huge self control and consideration when tackling a slimy back road with some spirit, or trying to tool away from a set of traffic lights in the wet. And no electronics apart from those that make the spark plugs go BANG. At least it will never have any problems with ABS, TC, ESP, Power Steering, Dynamic Suspension, DCT blah blah blah..... Slow? Yes, probably, but fun? More than you can imagine :thumb: OK, so we also have an R172 SLK55 (with PP) for when the cold and wet has become really annoying, but overall I've gone a bit less-is-more over the past few years I guess. Each to their own of course.

So there's no argument as far as I am concerned as to one being better than the other - they're just different. So enjoy your cars folks, whatever they say on the back and if you can turn around for that last look after parking it somewhere, as you walk away, and still get that fizz, then who cares what it is eh ?!

I learnt many years ago that I have more fun riding a motorcycle that runs out of capability before I do. The same applies to cars :thumb:

The trouble with most high performance cars is that it's generally not possible to get anywhere near the fun zone on public roads. Cars like the C63 and E63 are fun in day to day use not because of their absolute performance, but in the way they deliver it.

Surprised that no one has started to try and wind up the 'Standard' C63 owners by saying what they are missing not have a C63s!!

Think the only difference is that the S has around 50BHP more so but you did get as standard some options which you need to pay for with the Standard C63 so -in some owners minds- better is best.

And the rest...

C63- mechanical diff
C63s- electronic diff

C63- plenty of options to add
C63s- comes with most of the options

C63s- more torque, HP, larger brakes, 19" wheels as standard, not limited to 155mph, dynamic engine mounts and other stuff

I think if you was to price up a standard and added a load of extras, the price wouldn't be far off from a C63s

C63 vs C63S, for me 476 hp was quite enough, the extra £6800 didn't really justify the extra 34hp and 50 torques from the engine, the electronic diff, active engine mounts, red brake callipers and the performance seats.

The only options you can take to make a C63 more like a C63S are the 19 inch wheels, a £600 upgrade which I took and the AMG Performance seats which I've read can be uncomfortable.

So I love my C63 as it is with it's standard seats and mechanical diff, however I would never challenge someone's decision to buy a C63S.

However all this rubbish about the C43 is just boring, mapped or not, at the end of the day it's still a V6 and isn't WAY BETTER THAN A C63. After just coming out of an Audi S5, 4 wheel drive just kills any fun there is to be had at road legal speeds but it might be useful to get down to Aldi tomorrow with wifey when the snow comes in.........

The bit that surprised me, as a finance buyer, which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea, was the residual value on the s was only about a grand more than the regular c63, which put it out of my reach.

Depends how you define "way better". Plainly C43 drivers have their own definition...

Actually, each really is "way better" than the other - for a given value of "better".
