... where is the best place/way to sell? Looking to attract the best price obviously, but also want to avoid "messers"!!

Going to look at something else as circumstances have changed and I need a 4 door :(

Doesn't using Autotrader lead to a plague of 'Agents' offering to take a cut of the price sell it for you?

Just put "No Canvassors No Riff Raff & No Time Wasters" in the advert and when they ring up ask them if they have read the advert before telling them to F off.

Depending on the type of car I've had good success on Ebay and Pistonheads.

Ebay - provided that its a classified ad and you can ignore all the 'buy it now' chancers then it gets a wide audience and you can start initial conversations about the car via email. I've bought 3 and sold 2 cars via ebay and its cheaper than Autotrader.

Pistonheads - I often look here when after a new car and find the search engine better than Autotraders. Much cheaper too.

And use their 'phonesafe' option so you don't have to give out your own mobile numbers to all and sundry until you know you're talking to someone genuine.

Another vote for eBay here. I've sold five cars through auctions, generally achieving about the price I wanted and had precious few time wasters.

That is the most attractive route but I worry if something unforseen goes wrong when sold then I'd feel bad and my reputation is tarnished. With people I don't know that is one thing and luck of the draw, but with people I know?

What does the panel think? :dk:

Caveat Emptor.

It's a private sale.

If you are in no rush try it on here first.

Then for me :- Autotrader followed by the Evening Post if no luck on Autotrader. I have sold a couple of cars on ebay with no problems but have been lucky with my buyers.

I have a mobile phone I dont use much and I use this as my contact number then I can soon forget about crank calls.
