Did you ask the Duke if he was ok with serving mince pies and milled wine? :D
That would be the late Duke ! - but seriously, they have a great Christmas Fair there and there is a great Hotel called The Peacock Hotel nearby at Rowsley, plus plenty of places to stay in nearby Bakewell etc.:)

sounds good 2 me

Hi Robert,

I am flattered, but lack the time and experience at organising such events, but could help in recommending accomodation venues nearby, should members need help.Heres one excellent place at Leek in the Staffordshire Moorlands, about 25 odd miles away - www.3shoesinn.co.uk

Cheshire isn't too bad, I picked it as it should be similar timewise for me travelling from Scotland than for someone coming from London. Plus it seems there are a few cheshire/merseyside members.

We need to have a poll, but I have no idea on how to set one up .
At the risk of sounding like a rep. for the Peak District Tourist Board - here is another excellent Hotel near Chatsworth. www.izaakwaltonhotel.com
Both this and The Peacock at Rowsley offer excellent trout and fly fishing and walking nearby and Buxton,Ashbourne and Leek offer excellent Christmas shopping for those wishing to extend there stay. Vote away - but I can see the sense in a venue that keeps people in a fairly close proximity in terms off accomodation.
