Mercedes a class gearbox fault

hi all,
i stupidly bought a mercedes a class from someone who said "the car is perfect or i give your money back"
soon after i left the letter f appeared on the dashboard, he is not answering my calls is is not at what he claimed was his home
he is posting other cars on gumtree, more people will be lied to
as i obviously can't give it back, i took it to diagnostics
autotrans in london produced fault code P2530 Gear oil pressure signal outside range and quoted £1,080 for repairs
I can't afford this as I'm absolutely out of pocket and this is the value of the car

can anyone pls pls help, recommend someone who can fix this?

If he is a trader then you should have some recourse. Speak to trading standards and see what they say.

However its possible your problem is electronic rather than internal to the gearbox as this file shows. Bert Rowe's-Mercedes-Benz 'A'-class info. Mercedes Benz A Class W168 Automatic Transmission /gearbox, Changing Automatic Gearbox fluid on Mercedes- Benz 'A' Class perhaps worth getting a good vehicle electrician/mechanic familiar with these cars [ important! ] to give it a check out. If the problem is internal to the box then there is probably no easy solution unless------- its short of fluid!!!!- check the gearbox fluid level first
ps I have assumed its an automatic box.

if the car is 2000 to 2005 fault code 2530 indicates damage inside the gearbox.
for 1998 and 99 with solenoid valves with pink trace it is more likely the gearbox ecu, or FTC, will have to be replaced with a later one tegether with all the solenoides.
