Mercedes c220d service

I know they do fake reports because they said my start/stop worked when it never did. They said my brake discs were good and they weren’t. The back plate was scraping the discs, making loud noises when driving. V12 aftercare was a joke. They refused to respond to my email or calls.

AA did another car and said the tyres were in good condition. The car failed the mot the next day for inadequate tread. You tell me whether they are genuine or not. The AA report are not from the AA themselves. It’s from AA cars - both different.

Strongly advise you to get your own inspection done to avoid being conned like me
Who told you that you needed a Mercedes battery ?
What makes you think V12 do fake AA reports, we have a V12 outlet nearby and I was looking at changing my car soon.
Also, the car had warped discs. When I test drove, I only went upto 30. When you go above 50 and brake, the steering wheel vibrates and you can hear a noise. The discs looked new but was told they were cheap quality.

What’s done is done

You do know that you have a statutory 1-year warranty on any second-hand car bought from a dealer (with the first 6 months being a period where faults are automatically assumed to have been present at the time of sale, unless proven otherwise), right?

My start and stop wasn’t working and was told I needed a Mercedes’ battery. Paid £300. Then I was told I needed a software update, which didn’t work. Guy told me I needed a voltage converter changed, still nothing.

Went to Mercedes’ and they told me the battery sensor needed replacing.

A lot of the independent specialists don’t know what they are doing. If I stuck with Mercedes’, I would have easily saved £300.

I’m doing A7 in September along with the MOT, following year will be B service. The previous owner didn’t service the car with Mercedes’.

See my previous post above. How long ago did you buy the car?

EDIT: Just saw that you bought it in Sep 2023. Have you tried at any point to get V12 to fix these issues for you under the Consumer Rights Act 2015? Still not too late, if there are any remaining issues (though now you'll need to prove that they were present at the time of sale).

The previous owner used cheap parts and tyres. The battery fitted in the car was Halfords make. End of the day, it is what it is 😢
I don't understand what you said , the invoice shown was of OEM parts fitted by an independent VAT registed garage.
So nothing wrong and wouldn't be described as cheap.

Surely when this car was bought it had 12 months MOT, so why was it taken for an MOT the next day ?
Their website says they are inspected by an independent AA inspector.

As above, the part numbers are actually MB part numbers?

I’m not mechanically minded so I’m unable to do anything when it comes to cars 😢. I’m probably a beta male.

Mercedes have quoted me £900. Contacted a few independent specialists and they are charging the same
£900 for that service from Mercedes is not a bad price but, as said, I would expect an Independent to charge less

Sounds like you bought a lemon .

It may not be the discs, it could be worn bushes in the suspension control arms as they cause very similar symptoms.

Unlikely to be the discs , 'warped' discs are a bit of a misnomer on a standard road car, the swept surface might be contaminated , grooved or pitted .

But warped ? Doubt it . Takes a $hit load of abuse to warp (bend) a decent brake disc.

No, I was only aware of the 30 days return where the seller has one chance to rectify the car or refund the money.

V12 after care was terrible. It’s actually non existent.

They are not the real AA inspectors because I contacted AA themselves and they told me it wasn’t them that checked the car and AA cars ( who V12 use) are a separate company.

I had the same issue when they changed the discs to Mercedes. The garage used Bremo discs and the problem went away. They told me sometimes people drop discs on the floor and that might cause damage to them.

I had the car checked by George Fraiser because I noticed the steering wheel vibrates when your driving more than 70mph and vibrates when your braking from 40mph-30mph. He wasn’t able to find what the problem was and told me the car is in excellent health. Mercedes said the same thing.

The tyres on the car are sunny budget tyres. Took the car for wheel balance and still have the same problem. Decided to accept and carry on driving

George Fraiser checked everything and told me everything was fine

I expected independent garages to be between £150-250 cheaper but they are charging the same as Mercedes main dealers

If it's not staggered wheels, swap from fronts with the rears and see what happens.

That shouldn't be the case unless Mercedes are offering a discount?

Apart from the transmission service any good garage should be able to deal with the rest of the service.

Poor quality tyres can be difficult to balance as they may distort at speed.

With all of the issues why did you buy it?

Who is he /they?

Worn suspension bushes as stated can cause vibration under breaking. It's worth checking if it is still a problem with 👍

That’s was done and it’s still the same
