Mercedes Connect Me

connect me

The Dealer set mine up and once the app was downloaded its was simple.
Its good to have the car warm on a cold morning with no ice to scrape too.

If I can use it anyone can use it thats for sure

Must be a new function that then! Warming the car up and scraping the ice off..... Doesn't come with my Mercedes Connect Me!

Woa - heating the car via the app??? How?????
I expect you need to have a cold climate pack or something??

It comes as standard on the plug in hybrid. It's so the heating of the car can be done whilst plugged into mains power. It draws the energy from the mains so electric range is maximised once unplugged.

Admittedly I charge using 8A, however the car seems to use around 10% of the battery to pre-heat, whether I'm charging or not.

I put this in the other thread.

My local dealer said I needed authorisation from lease company. I got a no, "data protection", have emailed with a reasoned argument against it.

If no go, I'm going to try another dealer. Carlisle is quite far though!

Does Hybrid send the outside temperature reading to your phone?
Frustratingly it doesn't appear as a mobile accessible feature for other cars when there is a temperature gauge in the dash! This is actually quite handy in ascertaining the real world temperature before leaving your house :)

Nor does it send me the oil level (which presumably is displayed on the dash when it is low)

I got the same, have tried lease company again and asked for a decent argument from them as I need to know when its charged / where chargers are.

My local dealer were going to do it all by phone up until then, the reg let them know it was a lease company

Any chance you can share your email wording please?

I'm having the same issue with Pendragon who are supplying mine.

What aspect of data protection are they quoting? Are they actually using the term in respect of the Data Protection Act? If so, the DPA only related to personal information. If you are signing up to a Mercdedes service then the t's and c's will respect the DPA (or not and you will agree to them). I don't see how this has anything to do with Pendragon as they are a company and as such have no personal information in the mix. So, if they are hiding behind the DPA then I call bull£*^%.

If they are just saying they don't want Mercedes to know where the car has been then you're 9#potentially) screwed :(

Probably a really silly question but....

What connects to the car? Your phone?

If so, whats the point of using the phone to connect to the car when the phone has to be in the car to work??

Confused!!!:fail

You can use your phone to remotely connect to me car to check fuel level, tire pressures..... send an address to the sat nav.

I even used the remote unlock the other day. Got up early for a run, cold outside so need hat which was in the car. Rather than take all my shoes of an go back in the house..... pull phone out of pocket (used to track distance) remote unlock the car get hat. Then set the car to lock. Sweet

There are no silly questions! :)

I think you're not on the right track. What happens is that in order to view the cars' details (tyre pressure, where the car is, how many miles are on the clock etc. etc. etc...) then the car does this itself through some in-built comms module uses one of the UK's network of mobile cell towers (which I make an assumption because nobody in Mercedes could tell me, even the 'expert' at the dealership). It connects to a server somewhere in the Mercedes network which is what you're viewing when you visit the website using a browser to view the car details. It can do this in real time (ie. door locking and sat-nav traffic updates).

The only requirement for the car to connect to a phone is via your phone's wifi hotspot function which then gives the car ability to look at the Internet on the display.

Quite why they couldn't just build the lot into the cars' comms module I don't know. BMW do this, my mate's 235i is able to stream music etc. directly to the in-built audio system.

Hope that clears it up?

I don't see the outside temp in the App but the car does seem to take it into consideration with the pre-heat. Depending on how cold it is seems to vary if the heated seats come on and if colder again then it turns on the rear demister too.

I'm disappointed about the oil level not being accessible remotely.

I thought I'd manually check, popped open the bonnet, and the oil was at the lowest level on the dip stick. Just caught it in time, and topped up.

is "connect me" the thing they wanted to charge me £150 for on my GLC. I'm guessing as I didn't pay it, I can't connect. I tried entering in my VIN, but it didn't like it.

Yes, although if buying a new car it comes free for three years.
No idea if it is transferable to next owner if car is sold.

Mine is a Lex car. Dealer delivered it to me and told me he would look out for my reg, which he did, and connected me. Tried to access last week to have a mess about but it has now been disconnected. I assume because it is not owned by me as per other posts. Latest one came up last week when my colleague took his into dealer with a problem. They fixed it and rang him to tell him it was ready but told him to bring proof of ownership with him or they would not be able to let him take it. Absolutely priceless......what fantastic customer service
