Mercedes Connect Me

Try using BMW's connected drive service, pil of piss to set up and connect. You even have a dedicated support team who you can contact 24/7!
Another reason i went to BMW over MB

My lease company is not allowing the connect me to be activated either they have stated that the emergency function is the only thing they will allow as the other things do not coincide with there business plan. Does anyone have a letter with good arguments to try and pursued my lease company to change there mind. I have tried to explain regarding batteries and charge etc but is falling on deaf ears. Car to be picked up on the 7th March

You can connect to the MB 24/7 support team by the press of a button in the car - does the BMW system offer pre-heat ?

Well I've today messaged the CS team from the web app.

I got all the web notifications last week telling me my new GLC had been setup so duely logged in and duly ticked off and accepted all the T&Cs. Collected the car yesterday and logged in again, traffic and emergency active already, activated the other 10. Since then it states 'Activating' but hasn't despite a couple of hours driving today.

It seems to be waiting for a data connection but no idea where that comes from, SIM in car or is it trying to piggy back the Bluetooth phone..I read about Bluetooth tethering somewhere but thought that was for the command online stuff.

Hoping it's a quick and simple 'fix'.

Yes. Mercedes Me has been enabled, but not Mercedes Connect Me. Your dealer can do it without you having to go in. I had huge problems with my dealer as they just didn't know how it worked, so in the end JBD on this forum did it for me!

My services were sat in activating so I pinged CS and they replied saying the back end is under going maintenance and once that's completed it should activate OK.

Yes, although if buying a new car it comes free for three years.
No idea if it is transferable to next owner if car is sold.

GLC price list, lists
"Mercedes me connect – Remote Online Services"

As a £125+vat optional extra.

I didn't buy it. I've signed-up to "mercedes me". It recognised my VIN, and I've gone thru the activation process, but now it's telling me I need to visit my dealer with:-

  • ID card (to verify your identity)
  • Registration certificate
  • Email address of your Mercedes me user account.
seems really totally illogical for an online service, unless of course it's because I haven't paid, and they'll be looking payment.

I seemed to have free Mercedes Me remote online access and traffic for COMAND without asking. Dealer supplied me with a Mercedes Me account and in the account area it indicates 3 years for free from the date of my car pick up.

https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/mer.../connectivity/

"Use of the equipment option Remote Online is limited to three years from first registration of the vehicle and can then be extended at extra charge."

Do you have COMAND?

Nope. Just the line20 or whatever they call it. I checked the brochure, You need to buy the £2995 premium plus package that includes Command, then its free :)

All activated now and getting the fuel, TP readouts etc, some of the geo based services now report as unavailable which tallies as CS did come back and inform me my services were now active but some would be affected by this ongoing maintenance which is due to be completed by 7th March.

So from my perspective CS have been very good :thumb:

Yes - there is online maintenance right now, I can't get access to anything until services resume.

Hope they enable remote parking pilot for C Class :)

I hoped for that when I first got the email - really hope I am wrong but read the announcement and it says Some of the new services will be available exclusively in the new E-Class as of March 2016 and later successively phased in for other model series from Mercedes-Benz. So I think remote parking will not be available retrospectively - which will be really annoying if you do have Keyless, 360 camera and auto !!!

I couldn't find that email? What was the subject title?

The email subject is Mercedes Me Connect Release 2.0 and I received it on the 28th Jan.

Message back from a product specialist at MB:

"...hopefully I can clarify the information for you with regards to Connect Me.

I have spoken directly with Mercedes Customer Services and a Specialist in Connect Me.

He has confirmed that the services detailed below will be available on the new model E class which is due very shortly. I questioned whether these could be added or upgraded to your Connect Me Account but unfortunately this won’t be the case due to the difference in communications modules in the vehicle."

So - seems a bit pointless sending this out stating this the release will help me handle my vehicle and indicating that only some of the services would be available on the new E-Class

I totally agree with you. It unnecessarily creates frustration and disappointment. At the end of the day MB UK knew very well which cars we are driving so it would have not been rocket science to send out a tailor made (or at least a much less generic) message.

The fact MB did a whole bait and switch with Apple Car Play and their reluctance to retrospectively add it on doesn't give me a lot of confidence they'll actually land us with any useful Apps. I still can't believe they added CarPlay to the outgoing Eclass (with its ancient COMAND) a couple of months before it ceased production. Complete joke.

I also wasn't too impressed with the Driver Assistance Package which in the UK at launch didn't include active steer assist, only for them to introduce it a few months after I took delivery. Naturally there's no software update available.

Looks like it's the same as owning a Nokia phone in the 1990s: If you want an update, buy a new model.

As far as I can see there are literally only a handful of apps that you can count on one hand (which aren't that useful and no Spotify)

Or am I looking in the wrong place.
