I was told that in the USA, all the basic A & B services are free for the first 4 years/50,00 miles. Is this true?

Mine says "B Service" for first one too @ approx 16500 miles. Could be a Diesel thing?

don't think so Brian, at least not in my case. It can't be a diesel thing if you pick the brand new car and it says "b" service already. I was waiting for that to change but 4k later it's still there. Just made an appointment with stealers for the beggining of March and the "technician" i spoke to was equally puzzled. He gave me few possible causes but none of them made any sense, not even to him - which he had to admit eventually.
To "save" his pride(and make even less sense of it all), he came with the good old one: "Tell you what, these cars are overengineered, too clever for their own good" , which of course made me see the light...
