Mercedes Rust Policy - Please read and advise

Maybe there are discrepancies in the front line support. But that was what I was told, only one claim for each corroded part. It may transpire that I was misinformed or the policy changed? As I said in my previous post I can't find it anywhere in the small print.

;) We have had three Mercedes-Benz that have qualified for Mobilio or MobilioLife and each time I have found the wording to be different   that is why I tend not to be too pedantic on certain issues. Basically though it is similar. (allegedly :) :) )

Happy motoring,
John

i have owned a w210 for 5 yrs now and so far had the boot lid replaced,4doors,2front wings, and last week the front subframe.allways took it back to the dealer i bought it from and so far had no problems getting it approved
had a decision on the subframe within 4 days.

I would not accept a car with all those problems, the dealer would have had it back.

CL55 Rust

Just had rust problem sorted on the leading edge of both rear wheel arches.
I have had the car 6 months (car is now 3 1/2 years old)and there was no quibbling about the warranty what so ever.

There was I thinking current models were free of the tinworm. Massive wheelspin shotblasts the trailing edge, innit, so not that?

Don't CLs also corrode on the rear pillar - think Maff's old '55 suffered here?

Will

They corrode (not rust) in a few places - though the rear pillar being the most common. It's what put me off buying a W215 though if a NA CL55 came along I'd be tempted!

That was the impression I had. There is a problem between two different types of metal.

John

Just look at the issues with Landrover with corrosion from different metal and alloys used in 110 and Defender

Interesting your avatar indicates your car is a '97. This is obviously past the eight year "cut off".
Can you please confirm or otherwise.

NA= Naturally aspirated or am I being thick and it's a metallurgy thingy?
Interested to know why NA preferred.

Yep, as opposed to the '55 Kompressor (S/C)

If you really can't afford it buy the Kompressor version and sell the Kleeman to me!

I must be soft, I paid my local body shop cash to fix the rust on mine, and that included the bonnet (bad rust around MB badge) boot (bad rust all over) two doors, one wing and one wheel arch All for £300. And the paint matches original metallic green (surprise). I know there is a principle here, but it was a whole lot less hassle to get the job done than fighting with MB. Time will tell how long it lasts, But they were professionals and I cant see that a MB bodyshop would do it any different, except there was no replacement of boot lid or bonnet, which MB might possibly do, (but bet they dont if they can get away with it)

That's a novel approach to the warranty offer. Did you car qualify for MobiloLife regarding date of manufacture and service history?

W210 Rusting away, Subframes, everything

I've got a R reg W210 E300TD Estate, i've had to privately fund every wheel arch respray and boot lid, done all round the door seals myself. Just been notified of the TOTALLY and i mean TOTALLY rusted front subframe...it's practically not there! ALL refused by MB to replace/repair.... you were lucky. Oh and mine is Main Dealer serviced 100%.
I'm selling it, bubble burst!

Here is what I did; I went to my local dealer and they told me that I cannot make a claim until I have owned the car for 6 months. They were also not too impressed with my non-FMBSH. So I went to another dealer and so on until one told me "no problem, MB has abolished the 6 month ownership rule over a year ago...". This dealer also told me unofficially that without a full MB service history, MB might ask for a contribution and would probably not reject the rust claim outright. I went back to my local dealer and got them to double check with MB re the 6 month rule, and the dealer got back a few days later confirming that the rule has be abolished by MB.

So I figure that I should immediately get the car serviced by a main dealership before pursuing my claim. And guess which dealer I went with?

Common sense would dictate that if your dealer is not supportive with your claim, then do not pursue a claim with them! In my view, one only has one chance of a success claim, getting it wrong will hamper your chances with furture claims.
